Tailstrike At Pittsburgh (apparently)

Sat Aug 31, 2002 1:04 pm

From http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=220830120

The Braves' bus arrived at Olympic Stadium at 5:30 p.m. After getting word that a possible strike had been averted, the team had its charter flight from Pittsburgh delayed two hours because of a tire problem and then a tail strike of the runway by the plane that took off ahead of them. The team was further delayed because of heavy traffic on its way to the stadium. ... Armas was on the disabled list from July 26-Aug. 19 because of a strained lower back.

Does anyone know anything more about this aircraft that took off ahead of the Atlanta Braves' flight?

I doubt the tail strike was the major cause of the delay. The article mentions a tire problem, and that was probably the major reason for the delay. PIT has three parallel runways, so a problem on one would at worst mean a 15 - 20 minute delay as the lineup for the runway moves to a different one.

One smooth landing is skill. Two in a row is luck. Three in a row and someone is lying.

Was the tailstrike on another US 321? US has already done this a few times.
