Width Of EI Business Seats?

Tue Sep 03, 2002 4:28 am

I was wondering if anyone knew the width of the EI business seats; we're flying to DUB for our honeymoon next month, and I was wondering how it compared to the business seats in AA's 762's, for example (which, like MD-80 seats, I find narrower than the domestic F seats on AA's newer aircraft like the 737-800).

FWIW, we'll be on the EI A330 from ORD-DUB (and in domestic F between SJC and ORD).

Thanks!

Premier Seats on A330-2/300 are 20.1" wide.

The info (and seatplans) are on the Aer Lingus website.

Width-wise you'll find the 6-across A330 seating better than the 6-across in 767s. Here are some stats for the width of a seat pair (includes seats, and armrests):

6 across 767 : 48"
6 across A330 (or any Airbus widebody): 54"
4 across Boeing or Airbus narrowbody: 57"

This means the width of the seat itself is 18.5 - 19.0 " on the 767 and 20-21" on the other types.

Very cool; while I find the 18-19" seats on the 767 okay, the extra inch or so makes a significant difference.  Smile

In addition to the seat width, there's some extra width to the armrests, which can make a difference on a long haul, since your're not rubbing shoulders with the guy next to you.

Personally I've found that the 767 6-across in the 767 can be great or awful depending on the choice of seat design. Oddly, in the case of Delta I prefer the -200 and -300 to the newer -400, there just seems to be more room overall.

One of the best seats I ever had the fortune to get my derriere into were the F-class units on TW's 767-300s. Even though they were 6-across, the cushions were designed just right (not too hard, and fit your body well). Of course, all that legroom didn't hurt.
