Grey 767-200@PHL W/no Rudder?

Anyway, I saw a 767-200 at Philly yesterday parked by Atlantic Aviation. Anyone know who owned this airplane and why it's there? Perhaps it was a US Airways jet?

I noticed this out the window from where I work in terminal E. Although I haven't been down to the US hangar at Cargo City, I'm assuming they have moved the carcass of N654US that was previously located at the other end of the airport. During the last few weeks they've been dismantling the aircraft and have removed all the paint/titles.

Just curious, what exactly happened to this aircraft? I checked the Commercial JetAircraft Census website & all it has for this aircraft is W/O 21SEP00 - PHILADELPHIA, PA, USA. has no details about it at all. Was it written off in a ground incident?

The aircraft experienced an uncontained failure of the high pressure turbine stage 1 disk in the No. 1 engine during a high-power ground run for maintenance. Because of a report of an in-flight loss of oil, US Airways mechanics had replaced a seal on the No. 1 engine's integral drive generator and were performing the high-power engine run to check for any oil leakage. For the maintenance check, the mechanics had taxied the airplane to a remote taxiway on the airport and had performed three runups for which no anomalies were noted. During the fourth excursion to high power, at around 93 percent N1 rpm, there was a loud explosion followed by a fire under the left wing of the airplane. The mechanics shut down the engines, discharged both fire bottles into the No. 1 engine nacelle, and evacuated the airplane. Although both fire bottles were discharged, the fire continued until it was extinguished by airport fire department personnel. The aircraft was damaged beyond repair.

There was much debate as to whether or not the aircraft could be repaired, which is why it has remained at PHL in full US colors for nearly 2 years. Although they have been scavaging it for parts, it has only been totally stripped down during the last couple of weeks.
