DHC-7 Crash Landing In Manila

Thu Sep 05, 2002 8:42 pm

According to Goodbye in chat, a DHC-7 carrying mostly South Korean tourists has crash landed at Manila. No serious casualties thankfully, but the a/c has suffered major damage.

Asian Spirit is a small airline in the Philippines that primarily serves secondary and tertiary airports - or hard-to-get-to places in the Philippines. Due to the short runway lengths of these airports Asian Spirit only operates aircraft that are suitable for small fields, such as DHC-7's, LET410's, YS-11's, etcc. It's a popular airline of you want to go to Boracay as it is only one of two airlines that serve the island. Seair is the other.
Its better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air than be in the air wishing you were on the ground. Fly safe!

The plane involved is RP-C2788, the only airworthy example they still had. The other one they once operated, RP-C2988, lies derelict at the Manila Domestic Airport and can been seen from outside, lying behind a wall (minus many parts).
