Three Months Left For Delta's Soaring Spirit 777

Fri Sep 06, 2002 5:13 pm

Those of you that enjoy photographing Delta's Olympic themed 777 christened
The Soaring Spirit II, I suggest you get pics of her while you can. January 1, Ship 7005 will be repainted, along with her little sisters, the 757 and CRJs, shortly thereafter.

Just an FYI.

Hey All,

The worst part about the whole thing is that the Soaring Spirit 777 has never even been to SLC. What a crock!  Smile

The worst part about the whole thing is that the Soaring Spirit 777 has never even been to SLC.

Actually, ship 7005 flew ATL-SLC-ATH on the way to Greece to pick up the Olympic flame. I remember sitting at Concourse E and watching her prep for the ferry to SLC with DeltaSFO.

Not only that, but Ship 7005 flew JFK-SLC-JFK charters twice a day, every day, from 3 days before the Games to 5 days after, with long sits in SLC every night.

Ship 7005 saw plenty of SLC.

Why are they going to repaint them? They should leave them like that!

Dimitry -

If I remember correctly, the IOC states that all Olympic markings must be removed no more that one year after the end of the games. So Delta only has until early next year to get them back into the regular livery. I think it was the same for the Delta planes in '96.

cheers, Phil.
