Connecting In ATL

i am soon to make a trip to FLL from IAD via ATL. now my question is..
how easy is it to connect in Atlanta? and even if it is delta, on both flights, there is a possibility of landing at a gate in one terminal and then having to connect at a gate in another terminal? how would that be? is it easy?

Connecting ATL is a piece of cake, there are 5 terminals in straight lines lined up one behind the other, all connected by an underground tram. All of the terminals are in the same secured area, so once you land take the tram to your next concourse, you dont have to go through security again because all the concourses are secured from the main terminal. Youll be able to understand easier what I said when you look at the map.

Yea, ATL is very logically and efficiently organized. It is very likely you'll have to change concourses; it's no big deal. Just follow the signs...

Do your airline of your choice, you could be arriving or departing from Terminals T, A, B, C, D, or E. (It's not that hard to get around though). You'll soon see why some refer to ATL as DIA (Delta International Airport).

Personally, I like to have more than an hour of connection time. This could especially come in handy if you are in the back of the plane when you land and pull into E-Concourse with a connection to the T-gates. Adding to that scenario, flights are known to be somewhat late coming in from time to time  Big grin. Now if you get in on time and get off of the plane in reasonable time, an hour should be no problem. Again, please note the word "if". ATL is usually very efficient with the train and the ability to connect between concourses.

In my very limited (3-4?) run-ins with ATL, I found the trams just great BUT that the concourses seemed to streeeeeeeeeech just a bit too far! Going from gate at one end to one near other end is quite a hike IMHO!!! (At least compared to other east coast terminals I have been to)

Connections @ ATL aren't too bad, unless you're one of the poor souls that ends up having their flight parking on E, and you connecting flight is on T. ATL=Delta International Airport! Too True!!!!!

I think the domestic--->domestic MCT at ATL is either 0:25 or 0:30, but going from E to T would be tough in that amount of time. If you are going to FLL though you will most likely be leaving out of A or B, and looking at my DL schedule here, you will either have a 757 or a 738, arriving at ATL on 738 in the morning, you will most likely arrive at terminal E, any other time you will probably arrive anywhere. On a 757 you could be anywhere.

I believe the IAD flights normally use Concourses A and B, and the FLL flight will depend on a few things. If you are on a 767-400, you will be at T or E (the only concourses capable of handling the 764), but if you are on another plane, you should be out of T, A, or B.

ATL's easy to get around. Like people have said above, you're most likely to depart out of A or B, but T, C, D or E are all possibilities for arriving or departing. There are several resturants & shops in each concourse in the area around the tram stops & fast food further into the terminals (if you have time).

I like ATL- it's a nice airport & always seems to be clean. As for the trams, they run every two minutes or so, but they can get crowded & you could be jammed in like sardines- I've had that happen to me before.

Everything about Atlanta is straght forward and easy to find. My one suggestion is to make sure you wear shoes that are already broken in. As has been said before you might be in for a nice walk. Good luck. Big thumbs up
