Will National Airlines Get A New A/C Type?

Tue Sep 10, 2002 1:55 pm

Now that National Airlines has won their new financing, I was wondering if part of their plan is to replace the 757 with a smaller aircraft...or are they just going to keep expanding with thier current model. Also will their inflight service suffer now.....I hope they don't become another pretzels and coke airline.

Their Inflight service is great.
Their ground staff is terrible, poorly trained and poorly paid agents.
They are sorely lacking in service areas as transferring bags to other carriers and Baggage Service/ Lost and Found. N7 Ramp Agents are now paid $6.80 per hour and so are the CSA's.
That is not a living wage even in LAS.

nz is right, they are getting 737s, but not 737NGs, they are getting the older 737s. I'm not sure when though, hopefully they'll survive this first  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

I wonder if Boeing will try to get them to take some 717s? I highly doubt it since N7 is in financial straits, even with the new financing. It would make sense because their 757s are RR engined. 737 Classic is perhaps the most likely, but here's a wild thought: what about some F-28s and F-100s? Horizon, U.S. Airways, and American have either retired their Fokkers, or are about to, so National may be able to get them on the cheap, and they are RR powered as well.

Fokkers are expensive to maintain since the manufacturer went out of business, spares are a problem. 737-300 seems to be the most logical choice from a capacity/range standpoint. They should stick with Boeing considering their size.

Can someone using PaintShop whip out a rendition of a National 737-300?
