NZ Fare Confusion. Can You Explain It?

Wed Sep 11, 2002 10:11 pm

I jus attempted to book on NZ from NRT-CHC. The lady on the phone said that flight was 184,000 yen but NRT-AKL was only 161,000 yen.

I actually want to be in Christchurch but thought I could get an internal for less than the 23,00 yen price difference. When I looked it all up on the net myself things got confusing.

Both destinations are served by NZ 34 which flies NRT-CHC-AKL. Auckland is reached after Christchurch yet is cheaper, by quite a bit. How can this be ?

BTW can anyone think of a way I can get of the plane - with my luggage - in CHC even if I have the (cheaper) ticket to Auckland ?

If you want to get off at AKL, here's what you should do. Buy the ticket to CHC, but buy it as a connection. NZ #34 NRT-AKL, and then another NZ flight AKL-CHC.
