Airplane Subtype Question

Fri Sep 13, 2002 2:24 am

I've searched around the web for quite some time for information on what exactly are the differences between different subtypes of an airplane. I don't mean a 747-400 vs a 747-300, I mean a 747-422 vs a 747-4Q8. Does anyone know what these differences are, or a web site that explains them? Thanks

They are not exactly subtypes, but rather 2 digit/letter codes Boeing assigns to individual airlines. For example KLM is -06, Singapore is -12 BA is -36 UAL -22. Hope this helps.

For a list of different costumer codes, have a look at http://www.jetairliners.com/cbsmf.htm.

Thanks, I didn't realize that Boeing did this with individual airlines, I thought it had something to do with engines and other options. As they say, you learn something new every day. Again, thanks.
