Im just wondering what (is meant to) happen with the upper deck when there is a water landing with the A388? I know with the 744 you arent meant to use the upper deck exits how will airbus address this.
btw way before all the smart..... answer i know if there is a crash landing there is little chance the rafts will be used

Perhaps Airbus also wants to prevent the airlines from cramming the plane full of seats. They quote a similar motive in deciding the diameter of their planes - so airlines wouldn't be tempted to put 2-3-2 seating in business class.
This doesn't sound very market-oriented at first glance, but perhaps they're thinking of it as an investment in their brand.
