Female Capt. On LH 441

Fri Sep 13, 2002 1:07 pm

Just thought it be interesting to note that on a recent flight from IAH-FRA I had a female Capt on board LH 441. The flight was superb and the gal in command was quite a looker. The reg. was D-AIGV.

It is nice to see more ladies "spreading their wings" and doing what, for the longest time, was considered to be a "Man's job".. There are many capable ladies out there, and it's nice to see things more diverse  Smile

Well, my personal opinion is: I think ladies should be at home. At least I sure wouldn't want my wife out there in the world woking, she needs to be at home with the children, while I am the one paying the bills.

Just me humble opinion,  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

JMC has a female captain. I had the pleasure of flying MAN to TFS (20/8/02). Very nice flight.
Quite a few passengers looked surprised when she walked past in her uniform. I watched her board the plane and was impressed when she took the left seat.

Recently I was flying from FRA to STR on LH and we had a female captain as well. The aircraft was an A319-100.
LH has quite a few female pilots and first officers.

All I know about jet flying femmes in Indonesia are 2 737-3/4/5 F/Os

I heard 2 different ladies on Garuda jets once, but I heard one of them have moved to Indonesian Airlines... not sure if she got her 3rd bar yet.

Indonesian Airlines- F/As wear white batik dresses like SQ *but much much better looking* and the pilots wear GREY ! They look like one of those Airport/Airplane pilots of the 70s ! LOL

On one of my flights to TXL I had an all male crew in the cabin and the captain being female...

I just hope that by the time I fly for LH there will be more females doing the job.

And what did she do after arrival?! She parked the B777 on the wrong parking position  Wink/being sarcastic

Alaskaairlines-- Welcome to the Dark Ages, and good luck finding a woman who buys into your outdated point of view. And by the way-- how many bills do you pay at age 16?

i was wondering what woman pilots would do at the destination since they cant play around with the male FA's which are known for their lack of interest in women. however, they will probably allways have a male colleague at their side or no interest in intersex relations.

We had a female captain on Air Jamaica this summer. She flew the whole way from Montego Bay to Kingston with the hand brake on.  Big grin
Very bumpy landing in KIN.
Ok, maybe not true for the handbrake bit but the landing was rather rough.

Tunisair counts three female F/O and one Cpt.
Nouvelair has one female F/O.

They fly A320s and B737s.

In addition to these girls,i know three others waiting to be hired in these or other airlines.

i had one female pilot dfw-den aa 767-300 (equip. change) and to be honest with you, that had to one been one of the worst pilots i have had. she was banking very steep, the landing was rough, the braking on the taxi was rougher.. i have flown that route before so i knew what to expect.

Funny thing, I was reading a book I got from the library about a month ago and it was written in either the early 80's or late 70's and it was talking about how if your a female "don't consider a job as a pilot, airlines are male chauvinists.' ETC..

The other day I was out at CLT and there were a lot of female pilots there. I have flown with a few but not too many..

Personally, I think it's absolutely wonderful that more females are meeting the
challenge and rewards of being a pilot. It's about time. Here in Canada, Air Canada has a growing number of female flight deck crews. Skyservice Airlines has, I am told, approximately 12-14 female Captains and F/O's, and the numbers are growing.

I can recall flying YYZ-YVR on a cold wintry day on an Air Canada A340. We were taxiing out for takeoff, and both the female Captain and female F/O made announcements about de-icing and delays. This gentleman, around 65 years old, sitting across the row and one row ahead of me, was absolutely shocked to hear female voices coming from the flight deck. He jaw literally dropped as he looked around to see if anyone else was as surprised. I turned to him and simply said, "They're not females, they simply have a very very low testosterone level". His wife laughed at this, and he too managed a chuckle.

Three Cheers for the Ladies!! You GO, Girls!

Well, there are also female FO in Dragonair. I heard few of them through my scanner also and they sound great!

Moreover, there are tons of female (I am not sure if they are captain or FO) in Canada. For example, I heard female voices on some Canada domestic flights. Some of them were flying Airbus A319 or Dash-8.

"She parked the B777 on the wrong parking position"

Yes its true...the ladies can't handle machines on the ground. Women and driving....need I say more? My friend Kari even admitted to being a "female driver". But girls definetly can fly. Kari out flew all the macho males at the FBO I worked at. Now she is a F/O on the ARJ at Mesaba. And shes a babe too.  Wink/being sarcastic

So how did you know that the female Captain was the pilot flying? Maybe it was the male First officer?

Anyway, we have 2 female Captains flying the 747-400 and they do their job as good as their male colleagues. We also have a number of female F/O's. I guess the only problem they will have is after landing at places like Tehran, when the ramp agent comes in the aircraft and looks for a man to talk to  Big grin

Cheers.
