I would be based at Bristol.
Aircraft:
Dash8
Shorts 360
ATR72

Short flights to London, Jersey, Newcastle etc. Possibly eventually I would go onto 737's or MD80 etc...
Not too great of service, want to save money these days since passengers are more for cheap prices than quality.

Name:
Andina

Base:
Santiago, Chile (SCL) Aeropuerto Arturo Merino Benitez

Aircraft:
A319 and 777

Destinations:
A319
*Concepcion, Chile
*Buenos Aires, Argentina
*Lima, Peru
*Sao Paulo, Brazil

777
*Caracas, Venezuela
*San Juan, Puerto Rico
*Miami, USA
*Chicago, USA
*Amsterdam, The Netherlands
*Auckland, New Zealand

Services:
Offer frequent regional flights linking Chile with it's most immediate neighbour's (routes that currently are busy). Also offer the international flights on key routes such as MIA or CCS and others that in some cases such as AMS and AKL, have not been so directly linked to Chile. All flights would create a comprehensive passenger and cargo network that in alliance with Air New Zealand and KLM, would be quite significant.

1. My hub would be at Stockholm Arlanda.
2. The planes would be Caravelle, Comet-4, DC-7C, DC-8-63,
Lockheed Super Constellation and Electra.
3. I would fly anywhere my high paying customers want to go.
4. My service would be out of this world.

I would call my airline "Real Aircraft Airlines" and it would be a charter
operation for people who love real aircraft and have the money to
support their love.

Name of airline: A L T A (Aero Lineas Trans Americanas)

Hub: EWR

Type of airline: Scheduled service, low-cost business class & coach
Service from US gateway (EWR) to select Latin American destinations, starting with Mexico City, San Jose, Santo Domingo, and Bogota. The destinations would expand to include Cancun, Merida, Rio de Janeiro, San Juan. US gateways of MIA and LAX could be added in the future (no JFK, as American currently has a strong hold on this market).

Fleet: 767-300 and 757-200 aircraft. No disrespect to Airbus planes, but the two Boeings offer, in my mind, the best option for fleet commonality for their sizes.

My hubs will be at DUB and in LPL(despite how unrealistic it would be at LPL).

I'd use 744's and A340-800s for Long Haul, 757s for Medium range flights.

I'd fly all over the world. I would go to Newark, San Francisco, LA, Boston, Toronto and Vancouver for the North American routes, including a sevice to Honolulu which stops at San Francisco.
Rio, Buenos Aires and Mexico City for the South American routes.
Johannesburg and Tunis in Africa, Bahrain, Doha, Bangkok, Narita and Beijing in Asia.
In Ocenia, I'd fly to Sydney, Perth and Auckland.
For Europe, it would be to Birmingham, Heathrow, Glasgow, Paris CDG, Brussels, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Munich, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Zurich, Geneva, Barcelona, Madrid, Milan, Rome and Athens.

My airline would be low cost and internet friendly. Like Easyjet, but with better service on board.

Don't know a name for mine, but I'd have hubs at DFW, MSP, and maybe LAX if possible. I'm tired of flying DC-9's/MD-80's, 737's, and A320's, so all domestic flights would be 757 or 767.

There would be no business or first class, the whole cabin would have at least as much legroom as AA's MRTC or NZ's Pacific Class so you wouldn't feel "trapped" like I did on UA, and the seats would be a little wider, like there would be 5 seats across on the 757's and 6 across (2-2-2) on the 767's (instead of the usual 6 and 7 (2-3-2) respectively). International flights would probably be A340's (I love 747's and 777's too, but this would make a nice change for a U.S. airline), with 2-3-2 seating instead of the usual 2-4-2.

PTV's and audio on all flights, including Airshow map display, camera views looking straight forward and/or downward, and of course the equivalent of UA's channel 9. The shorter flights would have bags of food and cans of drinks to pick up on your way into the plane so they wouldn't have carts blocking the aisles right after taking off when you need to go to the bathroom (this has happened to me at least twice on NW) and you'd always get a whole can (or bottle of water or juice if you'd rather). No alcohol served on board at all. I think that and the extra legroom would help prevent a lot of air rage incidents.

Fares would be a little more than average coach fares, but not by more than 25-33%. I think there are a lot of people, like myself, who can't afford business or first class but would be willing to pay a little extra for a little better service.

This would never work... but...

Hub: LGA (We'd take over US Shuttle's nice little concourse there...)

Fleet:
MD-80s
757-200s
767-200s All USED!

Inflight Service: Simple service like from the early 90s. You get a meal if on long flight, snack if on shorter one... Interior would be a classy grey, like US, only classier. Generic two-class interior. TVs would be the "pop out of ceiling deal".

The airline would be an airline. Not this "no-frills" stuff they've started.. (Although they have been suceeding so I should shut up..)

Destinations: US and Carribbean with more of an emphasis on the eastern coast...

Fleet:
A318 (when they come availible)
A319
A320
A321
A330-200
A330-300
A340-200
A340-500

Aircraft Features: -F, C, Y Classes on international flights
-C, Y on domestic service
-leather seats in all classes (they are actually more durable and last longer than fabric seats)
-PTVs with LiveTV at every seat
-Full meal service on flights longer than 2 hrs, snack less than 2 hrs.
-Seat pitch of 34" in coach, 60" in business (44" on domestic routes), and full sleeper mini-cabins in first.

Hubs: -New York JFK (I would try to dominate market share in NY by turning JFK into a major hub with frequent, convienient connections)
-Ft. Lauderdale
-Los Angeles (try to establish a dominant presence as a clear #1, something LAX lacks)
-Undecided midwestern hub
-Also try to persuade EU to allow us to serve select European destinations through BRU.

Routes: Average US destinations, try to dominate international routes by flying to places where US majors serve but adding on a few more destinations, also serving certain points in Africa (Nairobi via Dakar) (Johannesburg via Accra) on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.

Please note: It would never work and I would need more than 400 billion dollars in start-up capital.

I'd set up an airline to take over where Canadian Airlines left off. Finally have some competition to Air Canada on full-service sheduled routes. I'd see if I could revive the name Canadian Pacific.

The base would be Vancouver. I'd take over the C Pier, which is the one that CP used to use, and before that it was for international flights.

I'd operate Airbus A320 and A321's (depending on demand) to SFO, LAX, LAS, DEN, ORD, MIA, JFK, MCO, IAD, BOS, HOU, MEX, YYC, YWG, YYZ, YUL, YOW, and YHZ.

For international services I would use a mix of A330 and A340 aircraft. They would go to LHR, CDG, MAN, AMS, ZRH, MUC, MXP, JNB (via LHR), SYD, AKL, HNL, SIN, MEL, TPE, NRT, KIX, HKG, GRU and EZE.

Essentially, I would turn YVR into a huge hub. I would strike up code-sharing programs with most other airlines that compete on these routes (much like KLM does).

One day.

Delta777's airline would be Atlantic West.

Atlantic West. isnt that sort of an oxy-moron, being that, since the hub is in the USA, the Atlantic is on the east coast?

Base - Toronto, Vancouver(later on), Philadelphia or Pittsburgh possible with growth(assuming US air demise).
fleet - ERJ 170 series, 757-200
initial service -
In the East: Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh. 2 Northern New York cities, allot of small cities in New England, Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania.

In the West: Seattle, Portland, Vancouver, many smaller cities in the Pacific Northwest. Anchorage also possible.

Overseas- Ireland, Iceland, CDG(range permitting).

Strategy - rj hub at Toronto, transcons from Toronto. Point to point rj routes opened as opportunity develops. Long range RJ versions used for certain point to point ops. 757s used for charters and transcons initially. We need some liberalization in US-Canada airservice agreements(cabotage). Secondary airports may be used initially.

Advantages - economics and convenient size range of the new regional jets. 757 flexibility. Revenue received in American dollars, expenses paid in Canadian dollars. Possible lower expenses in Canada. No artificial gap between mainline and regional flying. Can probably get away with paying regional airline wages, at least for awhile.

My airline would not operate in a hub and spoke network.

I would position it a premium point-to-point, all C-Class service, connecting european and north american cities and capitals. It will offer a personal environment, high yields and will be profitable even with load factors <70%.

My aircraft will be the 73G/BBJ or A319/ACJ in an all C-class layout.

I would do the opposite of what the no frills are doing. I would try to grab the high yields at the higher end market.

A new carrier IMHO could only be successfull in its very own niche.

Here is a great simulation you can buy:

www.airlinesimulation.com

I bought it a few weeks ago and have been having a blast with it. Cost me about 50.00 US for the CD with on line upgrades.

Has everthing! Name your airline buy, sell and lease new or used aircraft. Flight ranges and runwway requirements are realistic. Set up your own routes.
Set service levels, select frequent flyer offerings; set fares; configure cabins!, create hubs, it is a blast.

Right now I am into year 6 (actually it has taken me a couple evenings!) of building TranSuperior using used MD80/90 equipment. Just had to buy a BAE146 to operate into the short runway at KEY (KeyWest Florida)! and just placed first order for 717 (delivery in 2 years or I can lease one right now--there is also a used one available for purchase!).

Again site to order from is airlinesimulation.com. I am just a satisfied customer having years ago worn out Airbucks 1.2 from Sierra (a DOS based simulation created about 10 yrs ago or so). This new AIRLINE simulation is not a game but is a pretty good simulation, but yes you can go bankrupt if you want to offer full luxury service at cheap fares or if you only schedule your aircraft for 2 hours flying time a day! Overall pax loads tend to be optimisitc (i.e. pre 9/11), but I am certainly not complaining!

Let me know what you think about this program.

Fantastic simulation.

I have had some more experience with the Airline simulation available at www.airlinesimulation.com, an Australian developer, and am having even more fun. After building up a Airbus based airline with A320, A310-300 and A321, I succeeded in dumping every last one of them and replaced them with a new fleet of 767-200ER, 767-300ER and 737-600's, while still making money. I now have my eyes on picking up 50 or 100 Embraer 170's or 190's--not sure which yet and creating some mini hubs or focus cities. I am also running 2 DC8-71 freighters! Anybody interested in creating your own airline will enjoy this simulation program.
