Lost Baggage

Thu Sep 19, 2002 11:21 am

I am looking for some information on lost baggage.
I was wondering if someone could provide me with the number of bags lost by airlines, in particular bags which are sent to the wrong destinations. I am looking for the number of bags lost/sent to the wrong place for one airline, or a number of airlines if possible, or a link to a site with such information.
And for anyone out there who knows about the cost of delaying a plane due to a passanger missing the flight [and the removola of his or her baggae], does the delay cost the airline directly? and if so by how much?

Any help and information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I found one number, something like 7 in every 1,000 bags in the US are mishandled each year.
And it is said that 2billion bags [checked in bags] are carried each year in the USA alone.

Does anyone have any more numbers available or any idea where i might find some statistics on baggage?
