Singapore Airlines BRU-Manchester

Wed Sep 25, 2002 4:00 am

Hi guys,

A few months ago, I read on the forum here that SQ has no traffic rights to sell tickets from Brussels to Manchester.

When I was looking at their website out of curiosity some days ago, I saw that you can buy online tickets from BRU to MAN!!

Did they get traffic rights in the meantime?

Anyway, if this is true, nice that you can fly from BRU to MAN here on an SQ B744, like you have the FRA-LHR-FRA B744 of SW!! Probably one of my very few chances to fly a jumbo for a cheap price...

Best regards,
Frederic

As far as I know Singapore Airlines have always had traffic rights on the Manchester-Brussels route, as well as from Manchester to Amsterdam, Paris, Zuich, Istanbul and Mumbai - which are all stops, or perviously were, on the Manchester-Singapore route...

I have taken the BRU-MAN flight, as well as the MAN-ZRH and AMS-MAN flights on SQ. They are fantastic. Two of the flights I took in C. The other in Y.

The 35 minute flight from AMS-MAN in C was fantastic. They served by far the best and tastiest airline meal I can remember for such a short flight!

Thanks guys!!

Do they offer from time to time promotions like Air Namibia does on the FRA-LHR-FRA flight?

I might have missed something, but i just tried this and found that although you can book BRU-MAN-BRU, It doesn't seem to be possible the other way around. Any idea why?

cheers, Phil.

Hi N175dz,

Well, I don't find it very logic actually to book it vice versa. So you leave MAN in the morning to BRU, and fly back some days later in the very early morning to MAN.

But indeed, it is strange.....

Hi Sabena 690,

My logic was that at some point in the month or so, I have to travel to BRU (preferably from MAN) and after reading this thread, I thought it might be a nice change to try SQ, as I've never flown with them. You're right though - the scheduling makes it almost not worth it, but I thought it might be fun!

cheers, Phil.

Days of operation are based on departure from Singapore and Manchester, so the days the flight operates via each destination aren't always the same for outbound and inbound. This may be a factor in having trouble booking flights on these sectors. Also never noticed they fly CDG-MAN but not MAN-CDG!!!

They are as follows:
-----
MAN-BRU ___ WED/FRI/SUN
BRU-MAN ___ TUE/THU/SAT
-----
MAN-ZRH ___ MON/TUE
ZRH-MAN ___ MON
-----
CDG-MAN ___ WED
----
MAN-BOM ___ THU/SAT
BOM-MAN ___ FRI/SUN

Two of the SQ flights to MAN operate SIN-BOM-MAN and they turnaround as MAN-BRU-SIN, and another two operate SIN-BRU-MAN and they return MAN-BOM-SIN. SQ does this to ensure that the BOM-SIN sector is served daily.... BOM is now served 5x/week turnaround, and the remaining two weekly flights operate as a stopover en route to/from MAN. If the SIN-BOM-MAN flights were to turnaround and operate back to BOM, then SQ would have an uneven BOM-SIN schedule - some days they will have two flights, some days none....

I hope this explains part of the uneven schedule. As for the uneven CDG and ZRH schedules, that involves MAD as well.... that one doesn't make much sense to me!
