not really off topic, but United dumped BOS-LHR for the winter... should be back in the summer... if they're around...

Any South American/Central American service is desperately needed. There are only 3 weekly A319s by TACA to SAL, everything else goes through ATL, IAH, MIA, or DFW. I would assume Aeromexico would be at BOS by 2005, when they would have 737-600s able to easily to BOS-MEX and the new SkyTeam terminal will be done. I would doubt CUN since there is limited service to several hubs from CUN, let alone making it O&D.

Domestically, every city can be easily reached through a hub, with hourly flights to ATL, DFW, and ORD. The reason BOS-MSY doesn't exist is that the route would be solely O&D, as both airports are (with the exception of WN at MSY) O&D. If anything, it would be a better bet that MSY service from the Boston area would be Southwest to either PVD or MHT.

European service at BOS has been decreasing a lot of the past 15 years. I would doubt MAD would be close to getting on the list, but who knows? A big part of the MAD picture would be if AA/BA goes through (if it does, then no chance of MAD-BOS). FCO would be a longshot, but with DL and AZ having large operations at both ends and a huge Boston Italian population, it could work, even a seasonal flight.

As for Asia, the only carrier I see is Korean Air, which served BOS until the economy went south. Same thing with SkyTeam for my projections.

BOS-Europe service has actually increased greatly in the past 15 years. BA/EI/LH/AF/AA all have multiple daily flights in the summer now, with the other carriers offering a steady flow of daily/ weekly service. Sure, some carriers have come and gone, but capacity as a whole has increased.

I think BOS has a greatly number of international carriers to a broader reach of European cities than any other US gateway next to JFK.

AA announced today that they will commence a weekend non stop service between Boston and Cancun flown by 757-200s. Service should commence in December I believe?

Somewhere I heard that AM has been considering MEX-BOS for a time. Saddly, economic events (Tequila crisis 94, US recession) have stopped them.
Next flight: IAH-DBX-MRU-ANT

Im thinking with PTY being the hub of the Americas (very easy connections to the major cities in South and Central America) Copa coulld make PTY-BOS work with a daily 737-700 flight. But not going to happen with Continental routing all of the northeast bound from PTY pax through EWR.

I heard AA has been considering starting BOS-NRT for a while now. Does anyone know if they still are?

AA has Boston-Santo Domingo a few times a week too, can't remember the frequencies. Operated by a 757.

Actually the BOS-SDQ flight is operated on Sat only with a 757, I think during the summer the flight operated daily(NOT SURE).
But Im prety sure the flight has the potential to operate on a daily basis year round.

Air Canada has a daily YVR-BOS non-stop. I'm taking it at the end of November. Was originally launched by Canadian Airlines and taken over by AC. United shows it as a codeshare flight.

Glad they kept it, because it takes 3 hours off the old YVR-YYZ-BOS routing, and you clear US customs in Vancouver. Not sure how many any other Canadian cities have routes to BOS, but Toronto, Montreal, Halifax maybe Quebec City are sure bets.
Never let the facts get in the way of a good story.

BOS-CUN

Wed Sep 25, 2002 9:13 am

As stated, American Airlines will offer Saturday and Sunday service, year-round, between Boston and Cancun. The service starts 1 February 2003. I think it will use a 757-200.

Actually, it's just SATA...I don't even know where that flight originates from. TAP used to be BOS-LIS.

There also USED to be BOS-ATH, Olypmic Airways A340...sad that's not here anymore.

AA was going to start BOS-NRT services a few years ago and about a month before the inagural flight, The kind folks at Narita took away the slot so unfortunately that meant no BOS service. I do have a feeling though that once LAX-NRT gets running, then BOS should be next in line for AA Tokyo services.
