"Ms. Vinish said the company hopes to expand to the United States in the next two to three years."

So my message the other day in the other current Westjet thread may not be so far fetched.

I wonder what the cold snack will consist of, and whether there will be a price difference in flying on a WestJet charter as opposed to a Sky Service charter with more service included.

So does anybody know the exact number of charters Westjet will fly this winter? The only one I know for a fact is weekly YXX-PVR service for Air Transat Holidays. What about their LAS service? Thanks all.

Yeah I posted an article a couple months ago I think or at least meant to. They were looking to a US carrier to code share with in a few years. Southwest said it is unlikely but Westjet said that Jetblue is also a possibility.

Will WJ stay with the touristy destinations or go for business routes?

I don't think we should get ahead of ourselves here... While WJ is doing these winter charter routes (anyone running an airline in Canada with some capacity to kill would be a moron NOT to charter down south), *scheduled* US expansion is a long way off.
buhh bye

Good news that is kinda old but anyway its great new for Hamilton just meas that AT is really loosing out on YHM now being the only charter company not flying from here.

On another note I saw a billboard advertizement for Go Travel Direct (zoom airlines) today. Its neat to see advertizements advertizing direct YHM flights.

In an Airliner World report, it said it's possible for WJ to fly to Shearwater (Halifax), I wonder if that's a military base only? Is that possible?

I don't think AT is losing out because they don't serve Hamilton. Maybe their other routes are more profitable, so they would possibly lose out if they did serve Hamilton. Just a thought, and NOT an attack on Hamilton.

To say that an TS is loosing out because they are not flying out of YHM is dumb..by that reasoning all charter airlins in the world are missing out because they dont fly from YHM. SSV WJ and others have moved to YHM because their tour operators see a possible market, and with the winter time delays that go on at T3 every morning it will ease some of that load, as well as cater to more US, and western ontario customers. Transat is very well established in YYZ, and will take advantage of some extra gate space that will become avaliable at YZ when the others thin it out a bit. They may not need to attract more customers because they may be projecting a full capacity operation this winter...remember that Transat is really the only airline in canada that is not adding much more capacity this winter, because as they have said a number of times they are sticking to their plan, and not projecting huge pax increases for this year.

NOT an attack on Hamilton

Man this is sad that we have to say this after saying another market may be more profitable and constantly defending our words before they have been criticized because if it didn't then someone would criticize it.

Well you have to kinda wonder though. Every tour group except AT is flying from here. even a new start up thats not serving YYZ. Anyway I worded my sentence wrong I just ment to make a point thats its suprising.

No harm done, fly_yhm. Hamilton will expand at a good rate into the future, I believe. That doesn't necessarily mean there is room for everybody to have a flight or two. Hamilton will probably do better by just having a small number of carriers with a strong enough presence, instead of everybody with a flight from there. Fact of the matter is, for people not wanting to use YYZ for a variety of reasons, Hamilton provides another choice, one that should be less costly, and for many people, more convenient than travelling through YYZ.

All WJ is doing is utilizing their fleet for charters on evening/night and weekend flights, when there is spare capacity in their system. This is not a redeployment from or a reduction in their core domestic sked service.
