What Is The Meaning Of The Air 2000 Flower?

Mon Sep 30, 2002 7:43 pm

Air Tahiti Nui has a flower on its tailfin. Why choosed Air 2000 for a flower on the tailfin too as its new brand symbol? What is the meaning of the flower? Is it just decoration to achieve an exotic appearance? Anyway, I thought the previous Air 2000 livery was not bad at all.

The flower (aka "Sideshow Bob Hairdo") is the trademark of the First Choice Group, to whom Air 2000 belongs.

Yeah, does look like Sideshow Bob's hair!
Think it's supposed to symbolise a starfish?

They'll probably replace Queen Bodessea, one of the best known symbols in the UK travel industry, with a red banana skin over a powder blue background. I don't actually dislike the new Britannia livery, and the reasons for it are obvious from a group-wide point of view. Just the end of an era.

Air 2000 on the other hand don't really have a constant theme running through their liveries.

Least they've both managed to avoid the use of the colour orange!

When they rebranded Air 2000 to more closely reflect parent First Choice's image, why didn't they just rename the airline "First Choice" or some derivation thereof?

What value does "Air 2000" (particularly that its 2002) have for the First Choice Group?

Actually the airline attacts quite a positive brand recognition, and has a relatively good reputation as one of the leading UK holiday airlines.

They also operate some scheduled services from the UK to several European destinations. So I think a name change would have been a bad idea.

Rick

Aren't the only scheduled services that they've appeared to have retained this summer LCA, PFO & FAO?

Don't actually keep up to date with it but my understanding was that they now do scheduled from the likes of BHX and GLA (and STN?) as well as the normal MAN / LGW?

Rick.
