It Was A Strange Day For Cargo At SEA, Why?

Thu Oct 10, 2002 12:27 pm

Today saw some "odd" cargo arrivals at SEA.

They were:

Tradewinds 511F from Tulsa, on top of the 'normal' PDX flight

A Murray Aviation??? DC-9 from Detroit

A Custom Air Transport 727 from LAX

and the Centurion DC-10 from Miami.

There was also a (im serious) a flight shown for a while as 800E, an Airbus A319 from SEA to Paris?

There are also an ATA L1011 and World MD-11 parked over by the construction for the third runway.

Anyone know why?

Perhaps something to do with the closure/reopening of west coast ports and the need to move all the freight that had been sitting around?

I wonder if there were unusual cargo flights at other west coast airports... Anybody see anything good?

This port thing is a major pain in the butt. They now say export cargo will not move for another 3 WEEKS !!

The 319 is a CJ .. the Airbus 'BBJ' .. Don't know which specimen. It can do Paris-SEA nonstop.

The World MD11 is a 'spare', I beleive. World have some spare capacity, so I guess they'll leave it here until they need to move it somewhere.

The ATA L-1011 has a 24 hour technical delay .. will depart tomorrow afternoon if all goes well.

And as have been pointed out by others, the port lockout is causing some unusual cargo traffic - and keep your eyes open for more!

Andreas you have all the answers! Any idea around what time for the ATA departure? Or where it is going? I would love to see it leave.

ATA's flying in a new a/c for the delayed flight .. expected arrival 1330, departure 1510. The 'sick' aircraft is scheduled to live empty around 0100am ..

N161AT will resume the military mission to Japan, and the other one (160) is planned to go to LAX once it's fixed.
