New MAN Routes To Scotland Announced

Fri Oct 11, 2002 3:16 am

Taken from the MAN website press release section

"Eastern Airways in association with bmi has announced that from November 4 it will operate new services from Dundee and Inverness to Manchester. There will be three daily flights each way between Manchester and Dundee and Manchester and Inverness from Monday to Friday, providing business travellers with a convenient means of commuting around their working day."

Flights will use J32s.

In that case, you should see both A330s for bmi and BWIA's 9Y-TECH oops 9Y-THA. In theory, both JMC 753s are in! JMC470K timetabled to depart at 09.40 and JMC 881K goes at 10.10.

Possibly a LOT ERJ145 in the morning operating for Skyways (arr 09.10 dept 09.40) as the flight number has reverted to what is used it is a LOT aircraft.

I'll see BWIA???  Big thumbs up
I've seen SQ before, so Im not too bothered if I miss that, but will there be any EAF 742s in? Anything else of interest? (Please dont say BA A319s or DHC-8s)  Big grin

Let's see...there'll be some BA ATPs, RJ100s and ERJ145s...well you didn't say to exclude those types  Laugh out loud

Forgot to look at Ceefax before....BWIA isn't listed on the MAN pages! If it comes in, it should depart at 10.15.

Depending what time you get here, there might be 2 VLM Fk50s in, 2 PK 747s, the usual long-haul stuff (about from the Emirates which arrives at 12.15), Aurigny Sf340, City Air ERJ145, an Air Atlanta 747 that will be doing a service in its own right (!), Sunair J41 & a Spanair A320. There'll be at least 1 EAF 747 in (ETA 05.00) and at least 1 Titan 146 (though this depends what is planned) and ATR42.

Of course, next week you'll miss the scheduled appearance EK 777s from Thursday to Monday..more to the point, I'll only see them at the weekend!

Alex, I daren't venture south as my last LHR visit was in 1984 and I've never been to LGW! I work on the principle that all airlines will eventually turn up here (though I have the amazing tendency to miss all the really exotic stuff...e.g I'm going to miss the Air Cameroon Cargo 757 which will be going to FLS hangar early Monday and out early Tuesday).

Dipping my head into a crystal ball.....

You'll miss out, unfortunately, on the EK as a 772 is expected on the 20th at 12.20, departing 14.00.

Sunday is definitely 9Y-TECH day! Goodish news is that a Virgin Express 737 is timetabled to arrive at 9.00 and departing at 10.00. Helios should be sending a 738 in at 10.05 - you might see that landing whilst at the holding point! Couple of PK 747s, the EAF 747 arrives at 10.20.

Samos on Sunday...isn't that the 217A on a 757?

Alex, apparently it's ex-VH-BRN and is now expected on Sunday at 14.00. Didn't see it on the previous occasions it came in so, please wind, change direction for 24R arrivals!

Aye, BDRules, Sundays are pretty good. Back in the early 1990s, Tuesday was the day to be at MAN (GF, SQ, CP, QF, PK to name a few).

Ok, Im back from TFS  Big thumbs up
Flew G-TDTW both ways, but have to say arriving back at MAN T1, the place looked like a dump, and it was an hour before we got our bags back > Sad

Anyway, highlights of my departure day from MAN were:
CO 764
DL MD-11
SQ 744 (Taking less distance to take off than anything else)
EAF 742 (Red and Pink)
CX 742F
BMI 332 x 2
JMC 332
MYT 332 x 2
Corsair 743  Smile
LH CRJ-700
VLM 2 x F50 (One with 20 pax, the other with about 15 pax I seen getting on  Big grin )
PIA 742

Missed the JMC 753s, but caught up with JMAA and JMAB in TFS  Big grin
Anyway, I'll write a trip report sometime today or tomorrow
When you hear the noise of the Tartan Army Boys, we'll be coming down the road!

Singapore Airlines operates their flights back to Singapore via Brussels or Zurich and therefore the 744 was most probably not carrying that many pax and above all more or less no fuel.

SQ average 190 to 200 passengers per flight from here...about 50% loads relative to 747 capacity but I don't know how many seats that they make available from here.

Not surprised at T1's look as it should now be into it's renovation plan...come next April, things ought to be better. The baggage system is the biggest bugbear for most operators!

The shortest 747 take-off run I've seen here were done by CX in the early days of their operation here...between Piers A & B.
