JetBlue: Very Very Informative

Sat Oct 12, 2002 10:16 am

http://www.jetblue.com/

CURRENTLY POSTED ON JETBLUE'S HOMEPAGE AS OF 10/10/02 at 20:14 CDT:

Weather Alert (10/11/2002 11:10:26 AM)
Due to weather currently affecting the NY region, flights to/from New York (JFK) may be subject to delays. Please continue to check jetblue.com's flight tracker for updates.

Can anyone give me the website of any other airline that does this?

JetBlue posted this message due to bad weather in JFK which is affecting there flights and all other airline flights.

This is not something JetBlue invented and is not the newest innovation.

Most airline websites post a bulletin if there is some sort of problem at there hubs whether it's a security breach, or bad weather.

United sends me an email to any address I designate every time I fly. I also get a message on my Palm Pilot. The messages includes any departure and arrival delays, on-time departures and arrivals and gate information.

I think more airlines are making an effort to do this. Passengers do want to be informed.
Its better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air than be in the air wishing you were on the ground. Fly safe!

The FAA publishes a 'Real-time Airport Status' page on general airport conditions for a selection of major airports.

Remember to zoom in for more airports, in this example the South East.

Just one more example why jetBlue is ahead of its competitors...

For anyone with doubts: go get a flight and try them!

Yes, I've seen Delta and Continental do this at their websites in the past.

BR: Make sure it is in a hub city. Generally they will not post an advisory in an area that is just a small spoke. For B6, the only areas i would really expect them to post advisories is JFK(Yours, above), LGB, and possibly FLL.

Another innovation, this one by AirTran: They have flight status online! Now you can go check the status of your flight before you even get to the airport to see if your flight is delayed! Way to go AirTran, ahead of all the other airlines! Big grin Big grin Big grin

Southwest has this feature on their website, too.

Airlines I can think of that have this wonderful feature: Continental, Northwest, United, Southwest, Delta, Air Tran, American, and even Spirit. They all have some form of a flight checker and a few post delays directly on their mainpage.

I guess I should add 8 winks to my posts so people realize that I saw their winks and was being equally facetious.  Big grin  Big grin  Big grin  Big grin  Big grin  Big grin

I remember Delta's website had a bulletin for MSY passengers during the hurricane on the front page.
