BA Terminal At JFK

Wed Oct 27, 1999 2:40 am

Hi Y'all

Does anyone know whether BA owns its JFK terminal or lease it and if they might consider moving into the new 59 gate AA terminal when it is finished or perhaps even into the new International Arrivals Terminal when it is finished. Any thoughts?

Well, I really doubt they will move into the International Arrivals Building...but I have heard they will move out of their current location since its with United...then again, i also heard United wants to move, to possible where the second TWA terminal was...(#6??)

Thats true about united, TWA is allowing its lease on Terminal 6 to laps and UA wants to consolidate in it. They are planning to spend $200 million to renovate the six gates they will use. Jetblue will also be in that terminal. I think it would make sence for BA to sell its terminal at JFK (If they do in fact own it) and move in to AAs' terminal when it is complete. BA could pick up some cash and probably get some very favorable lease terms from their partners at AA. I have heard that Tower Air might move into the IAT sometime in the future.

Tower is moving? Why, they have their own terminal dont they? Maybe they cant afford it anymore? I would assume they would keep some of the facilities that they have no to park all those 747's. I looked out the window from the "Food Court" (said VERY loosely) and saw that the arrivals hall was a pit...and to think the many times I've stood there waiting for people...cant believe its gone...oh well, felt the same when they took down the old tower too   hehe
