Woohoo! First Solo!

Tue Oct 15, 2002 6:48 am

Well, I finally managed to make my first 3 solo takeoffs and landings today without incident!!!

I fly a 1997 Cessna 172 Skyhawk out of Boulder City, Nevada (61B).

I was nervous beyond nervous, but I did everything I was supposed to and nothing went wrong! My last flare was a little long (the wind shifted while I was on final and I had a tailwind instead of a headwind, so I wasn't sinking much at first).

I soloed at about 15 hours. Compared to some that's waaaaay late, but I didn't want to until I was ready!

This week is turning out great!! I got a new job, got photos uploaded to Airliners.net and I soloed!!!

Here is a link to the photos my dad took of me soloing (they aren't very good, as I had to leave the camera at the auto settings so he could use it  Wink/being sarcastic but you get the idea).

And here are the photos I got uploaded to airliners.net: (yes this is a sidetrack, but it's such a great day!!)

Congratulations!

I did mine just last week!

I also fly a 1997 Cessna Skyhawk, and I'm a flight student at Daniel Webster College.

Congratulations. There is no feeling like the one you experienced during your first solo.

Congratulations! Don't worry, 15 hours isn't bad at all. No matter how good a student is, I don't feel comfortable soloing them before about 15 hours. It's cool that you got to solo a [relatively] new plane too!

Heartiest congrats! Certainly I haven't met any pilot that have forgot his first solo.
Certainly you will fly in your life. And even if you fly hundereds of thousands of fights, ther will ALWAYS be only ONE solo what so ever. I plan to really celebrate my first solo. In the meantime, you really are a pilot now, something I have only dreamed of being so far (hopefully about to come to reality).
Cerainly you should be proud of your work well done.
All the best for the future,
Best regards,
Jawad Usman.
