Virgin Blue's First Flight To MCY

Yesterday (October 16) Virgin Blue operated it's first flight into Maroochydore/Sunshine Coast Airport (MCY/YBMC), Queensland, from Sydney. The flight arrived at 13.00, and it was operated by 737-700 Winglets VH-VBM "Tassie Tigress". This was the first Wingletted 737-700 for Virgin Blue. THe aircraft recieved a water cannon salute. All the passengers on board received a T-Shirt, and free Magnum ice creams on arrival into the terminal.

Virgin Blue will operate once daily from Sydney, and twice daily on Sunday. All these flights are operated by 737-700s.

MCY airport currently has Sunshine Express Airlines based here, who operate a Shorts 360 VH-SEG, EMB-110 VH-SJP, and Metro III VH-SEF. We also have two Singapore Airlines Learjets based here. QantasLink operates two 717 flights from Sydney daily, and one 717 flight from Melbourne daily.
