That McDonald's Near MEX Airport

Fri Oct 18, 2002 5:49 pm

Has anyone one ever eaten at the McDonald's adjacent to runway 5L at Mexico City's Benito Juarez International Airport? It looks as though the parking lot would get a fair share of jetblast due to all the departures there. It looks like a good place to spot as well.

Yeah, I've been there..... unfortunatley it's across the road that is sorta parallel to the runways so it's not actually on the approach pattern to the airport, however the bridges closeby are great spotting places. If you're spotting around the fence at MEX, That McDonalds is a great place to grab a quick bite ; )

BUT, if you go to the Hangares Metro station, now, there's an incredible view, and those jet engine vibrations you get when a dc-9 or a 727 takes off, wow !!

Get on the pedestrian bridge next to it and you'll have a nice spotting experience. You get to see every taxiing plane about to takeoff.

MEX is great for spotting. Isn't there a spotting place from the parking lot? (can't remember anymore Smile) When is MX retiring the 727?

Parking lot, is not accesible anymore, you have to deal with security... MX will retire their 727s next year.. probably OCT, while in 98 they still operate 26 now they just got 7 and they want to end the year with 6... really sad!!!
