Airnav Flight Tracker

Mon Oct 21, 2002 3:26 am

I just saw the new a.net ad for this new flight tracker. Has anyone tried it? It looks like it may rival, if not exceed, Flight Explorer's capabilities.

I have tried it and have the software and everything to use it... Its only for aircraft flying near your house. You hook your scanner up to your pc. Tune it to a frequency... Little radio transmissions (no voice, it sounds like a video game) come thru the scanner and the Airvav program will read the info from the radio and tell you what airline, aircraft, including registration it is... But, it might not be anywhere near you... You also had to update the flight info in your program (I believe I got it off airnav) with flight numbers so it will display where the flights are going and coming from.. It was OK, but, I suggest using http://www.fboweb.com

This appears to be a different product than the one you're talking about. Look at this link:

I just looked and was about ready to post! I did indeed have the ACARS program. The Live Flight tracking program here looks great, but... Ill continue paying my $9.95 a month for http://www.fboweb.com The price and I hate being limited as to how much time I have.

AirNav Live Flight Tracking - Realtime flight display for your computer

AirNav Live Flight Tracking
AirNav Live Flight Tracking US$ 64.95
15 hours/month
Register AirNav Live Flight Tracking - 900 minutes
US$ 124.95
30 hours/month Register AirNav Live Flight Tracking - 1800 minutes
US$ 239.95
60 hours/month Register AirNav Live Flight Tracking - 3600 minutes

How does the payment work?

AirNav Live Flight Tracking requires a permanent connection to AirNav Systems server, from where it permanently downloads flight data. Because of this reason the license to use the software has limitations.

There are three time options available when registering:
15 hours / month - AirNav Live Flight Tracking 900 minutes
30 hours / month - AirNav Live Flight Tracking 1800 minutes
60 hours / month - AirNav Live Flight Tracking 3600 minutes

All three options are valid for 6 months after registration date.
After this period and if you want to continue to use the software you will need to renew your registration.

Sorry, let me re word this...... Ill continue paying my $9.95 a month for http://www.fboweb.com The price and I hate being limited as to how much time I have.

Meant to say that FBOWeb is unlimited tracking for $9.95 a month and I like the freedom of staying on as long as I want.

Maiznblu:

Are you using fboweb to track ACARS? If so, can you help me with the set up, etc.

Thanks

Doesn't the "Suite 4" version offer tracking at the slightly higher fixed price? It says there are no monthly charges with that system. What is the difference?

Fpdonald,

Not anymore... You have to buy a special connector that will allow your sound card translate the info its getting. Its hard to explain.. I think I bought it at Radio Shack.

How well does the Airnav system cover trans-atlantic traffic and traffic to and from Iceland (most trans-atlantic traffic is handled by the Icelandic CAA)? If the coverage is good, I might just sign up for a subscription.

It appeared to work "worldwide", although I'm not sure how that's possible.
