777-300s At LAX

Tue Oct 22, 2002 8:32 am

Why don't any 777-300s from Asia ever come to LAX? What are the odds that Cathay Pacific or ANA or even JAL would use theirs on a transpacific route to LAX? Thanks!

Well you are not going to see any of our 777s in LAX. Cathay is not too fond of the idea of flying a twin across the Ocean. At the moment our 777s are flown regionally anyway, reaching as far as the Middle East only, although we nearly started a Rome service using the 777-300 last year. We have 744s and A340s to fly the Pacific, with the A346 to join soon. I suspect we may get more of these if the initial 3 are well received.

Korean Air sometimes use 777-300 on NRT-LAX flight.

CX didn't use the 777 is because the 777s are non-ER version.

NH flies 772 to LAX, because their 773 is only used for domestic flight. JAL just started 777 international flight.

JAL/ANA might have chances to fly 777-300ER to LAX when they receive them in 2004/05.

I think KE only uses 200 version to LAX...

i doubt that KE 300 version has ever visited LAX on revenue, but I might be wrong

I saw the KE 773 at LAX this February, so I know it has been there on occasion.

The KE 773 flies non-stop from Seoul to Sydney, so I am sure it has the capability of flying all the way to Los Angeles. In any case, on busy summertime routes sees KE fly 4-5 times a day to LAX fm ICN utilising both the 744s and the 773s.

A KE 773 at LAX would be rare! The 772 did do 1 of the daily flights at one stage I think. I think KE have 3 daily pax flights to LAX all 744's currently I think.

SYD is now a 744 and has been for some time. The 773's mainly fly to places like HKG and SIN don't they, They used to fly most of the South Pacific flights to AKL, BNE, NAN and SYD these are now 744's and 772's! Also CHC sometimes saw the 773's but KE no longer serves CHC.

KE has indeed flown 777-300s to LAX occainsionally. Saw a few myself last year. KE had 777-200ER scheduled last winter on the ICN-NRT-LAX route and sometimes they used a 777-300 instead. A 777-300 can make it NRT-LAX nonstop but not ICN-LAX. The777Man
