BA "Alert" In MLA

Thu Oct 24, 2002 5:38 am

A British Airways (actually GB Airways BA franchise) Airbus created a stir last night in MLA when the Captain reported an unidentified object was found in one of the lavatories by a passenger. The plane was parked in a remote area of the field. The unidentified object turned out to be a lavatory spare part left by engineers following some maintenance on the plane before it left London.

Indeed ! The flight from London to Malta is of 3 hours duration. The plane had almost completed the flight when the item was discovered. Or so it seems. Otherwise this would mean that the flight progressed in the full knowledge that there is an unidentified object onboard. What took them so long to realise that there is a suspicious object onboard?

Perhaps someone like GDB can shed some more light on this incident.

Perhaps because people had use the bathroom at the airport, before boarding the flight? It would make sense to me.

From my experience, the lavs on a UK flight work overtime. One possibility would be that the lav was locked and marked "out of service" but some pap decided to use it anyway and the "unidentified object" was discovered.
