USA 3000 To Durango,Mexico

Fri Nov 01, 2002 5:21 am

New flights announced:

From Travel Weekly:

USA 3000 gets DOT nod for 3 more routes(10/31/2002)

WASHINGTON -- USA 3000 Airlines, sister company to Apple Vacations, received Transportation Department approval to offer three more scheduled service routes: Baltimore and Cincinnati to Cancun, Mexico, and Chicago to Durango, Mexico.
USA 3000, which also operates charter flights, plans to begin the new scheduled service routes in mid- to late December on A320 aircraft.

--------------------------------

Can anyone confirm the Durango service? I would imagine this is for the large amount of people in the Chicago area with ties to Duarango.

Regards,
Joe

please note USA 3000 operates charters for vacationers. They already have service from PHL to the bahamas, i believe Cancun, and Costa Rica and a few others. So it doesn't matter whether people have ties to the area, its whether people want to vacation in the area.

Usairways85, re-read the post. These new services are scheduled, not charter.

oh, i see. so they are pulling another Sunworld stunt. They should just stick with the charter service. Doesn't BWI have charter service now to Cancun. Why do people prefer BWI, USA 300 should just fly out of either BWI or PHL, personally i think PHL is a much better choice.

Cancun is in Mexico not in Bahamas. From BWI they fly to Nassau and Cancun.

yeah, i know cancun is in mexico. my point was that cancun is one of the destination from PHL now, along with others. As for BWI, what will they do with their charter service they have now?

Flights originate in PHL. So they fly PHL-BWI-CUN. Its not like they have aircraft designated just for flights out of BWI.
The only aircraft they have right now is A320-214 N260AV (c/n 1564) which was delivered to them 10/04/01. They are expecting another aircraft shortly so that way they can start operations from other airports.

Flight to Durango? Do you mean DGO? I know there are some Duranguenses in Chicago but mostly, Duranguenses go to California or Arizona. So Chicago Durango seems very odd to me.

Couldn't it be Durango, Colorado?

I also find it hard to believe someone would fly a scheduled route to Durango, Mexico. Yes, it is a state capital but not what you would call a city, but more of a "big town", and certainly not one of the most developed ones. But hey, who knows, maybe I'm wrong and the market is there. . .if this is the case, it would be another example of Mexican airlines being slow and letting everyone else take a big piece of the cake.
