Bwia Dead Or Alive?

Fri Nov 01, 2002 8:57 am

The Union that represents the most BWIA,has called for the removal of CEO Conrad Aleong. The airline's employees are meeting to vote on the restructuring plan and were asked to make any suggestions by the union.

The govt have stated that they will be the lender of last resort, which is understandable but they have a 49% holding in the company.

Yes, unfortunately neither on-line Trinidad newspaper has a `ticker' or news updates. Tomorrow is the big day I guess.

Well, I don't think there need be too much suspense. Unless Aleong has some secret plan and secretly wants the airline to go bust so he can start a new one
i.e. Tobago Express International or somesuch, I dare say the creditors will extend their good will a little longer rather than going through the hassle of receivership overnight.

The dead line postponed to November 5th. The Board and Managment has said BWIA will keep the airline flying, and have calling on employees to take the proposals and if not taken that other methods which are not job freindly.
