Any AirTran Flight Crew On Here?

Sun Nov 03, 2002 7:40 am

Hi! I have a question concerning AirTran F/A's and commuting to their bases.
Does AirTran allow commuting for new F/A's? Whats the company like as far as morale goes and how does the company treat you. Would I be better off to stay with Southwest. I am currently a customer service agent but would like to transfer to inflight either for WN or possible AirTran or Comair.
Thanks a million!  Smile
I believe I can fly.....

Hi -

I'm a 7-year F/A with AirTran, if you'll send me an email (it's in my profile), I'll email you back with all the info you need....

AirTran is accepting people into its flight crew ranks. The question is: Where do you live? If you live in an FL city, you shouldn't have any problems getting to work. If nothing else, I imagine you can jumpseat to your base. Most FAs are based in ATL anyway, so getting there shouldn't be a problem for dead-headers.

And besides, it's difficult to move around in WN. You have to be in a certain position for a period of time before you can move to another, and with AirTran, you won't have people pulling 30 years of seniority on you. It's a young company, so there's room to grow and move around.
Those who fail to learn history are doomed to repeat it in summer school.

Nearly 100 F/As commute between MCO and ATL, and another 50 commute between TPA and ATL....those two cities are ROUGH for commuters at AirTran.

And yes, all 1000+ F/As at AirTran are "based" in ATL, but nearly 50% commute from other cities all over the place.
