Heathrow Parking Changes Starting Now!

Tue Nov 05, 2002 6:49 am

Quoted from the Heathrow mailing list, info is copyright of the source, who i will not name for security reasons.

At 0900 today, stands H05, H07, H30, H32, H34, H36 were all permanently withdrawn
and the whole H cul-de-sac closed to aircraft. H09 will remain open till 11th
November when that too will be shut, providing a new stand H01 is ready to
enter service. This will be aligned North-South, roughly where H36/38 used
to be. It will take up to A380 sized aircraft and temporarily can be split
H01L/01R for two smaller aircraft.

Two more large aircraft stands H05 and H09 will be opened at a later date,
parallel to H01 from east to west. There will also be two other stands
available, H03 and H07 which will be used for smaller aircraft when large
aircraft are not using H05 and H09. When this happens H09 can also be used
for a smaller aircraft, in the same way that J04 is used when small aircraft
are on J02 and J06. Hope this makes sense. All these stands are aligned
North-South.

Now the big one!! All aircraft stands at Heathrow will be renumbered during
the night of 28/29th March 2003. By 0530 all stands will be numbered in the
range 101 - 703. The cul-de-sac letters will disappear. I hope Dean will
put a new map on his website, nearer the date, so that I don't have to try
to list all the changes!! The BAA/HAL has gone for the cheapest option,
obviously, so it is also the most complicated and has little pattern to it.

Those changes are going to cause an awful lot of confusion. At least now if you have to go to stand K19 for example, you at least know what area of the airport to go to to find it. If the stands are just numbered it will take a bit longer to get there while you try and figure out where on the airport it is.

Just realised those stands are going to change on the night of my birthday Big grin

LOL leezyjet, happy birthday Big grin

The changes will indeed cause chaos, stands are already full to the brim with aircraft throughout the day. Nevertheless this is temporary.

I heard that they are planning to pull down the T3 car park to extend the terminal outwards.

Also saw the Airport parking stand plans for how things will look after T5 is built the other day. The inner and outer taxiways will also be re-named taxiway A and B. The cul-de-sacs were also re-numbered but still had letters in them.

It's going to get really confusing soon.

They are really cracking on with the T5 project now though. I left work a couple of weeks ago and there was 1 crane over there, returned after my days off and there are now about 6 cranes and some huge big piles of earth.

Bring on the 3rd runway now !!

Nice to hear the T5 work is progressing quickly, the quicker it's built, the better!

Now we need a 3rd runway.  Smile

I agree, give us that third runway.

Forget the public hearings etc.

Get the compulsary purchase orders out and buy the land required.

Heathrow is a national asset and needs to grow!
