well, to be honest i fear more about UA going down than US. i´m certainly not an industry analyst, but as much as i can follow the media i´ve got the impression Siegel is doing pretty well at US. just my impression, though.
i highly doubt that US and UA are going to merge in the end. don´t know if it might pass DOT approval this time, but don´t UA´s pilots now have a veto right when it comes to merging or buying more often 50% of other airlines (except feeder carriers)...
and since they opposed the merger last time, they would probably do so again.
anyway, most important thing is keep UA and US alive. and in the interview, Siegel mentioned that he´s not at US to sell the airline or to merge it, but that he´s there to turn it around, to make it profitable. though he admitted that in business when opportunities pop up you must take a close look at these before turning them down. so who knows what the future may hold for both US and UA...
If only pure sweetness was offered, why's this bitter taste left in my mouth.
