My 1st Flight With PPL Caught On A.net!

Thu Nov 14, 2002 4:19 am

Last night I was looking through photos from Scottsdale airport where I recieved my training for my Private Pilots License this summer. I stumbled across some photos of the airplanes I had flown during my training. I was shocked to find out that my very first flight alone as as a certified pilot was caught on film and uploaded to the Airliners.net database! I would like to share my acomplishment and the great pic by Mr. Tim Lachenmaier.

Nice shot Tim! You even got the Beacon flashing!

Now with that said, has anyone else found pictures on Airliners.net when you were at the controls of the smaller planes?!?

Cheers!

Searched for every N# I've flown that I could think of off the top of my head...15-20 aircraft. Couldn't find any of me flying, actually, I could only find one picture of one of them. If the plane next to it is the one I think it is, I've also flown that bird. Although, this picture is 15 years old.

Wow,
I'm not a pilot, so the question would not apply to me, but this shot was taken from pretty much right where I work. My building is by the end of the runway where the gate for the taxiway outside of the fence is. Great place to watch/hear/feel an old Lear jet or Gulfstream with turbojets take off!
Just surprised to see it on A.net!

One of the many aircraft I have flown... this one I've probably flown five or six times:

Kaitakfan,

So what you're saying is Tim shot that plane with you in it?

Wow, that's like finding lost treasure searching through the DB. It's better than being on TV!!!  Laugh out loud

You should've turned on the interior light instead of the beacon light. Big grin
Its better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air than be in the air wishing you were on the ground. Fly safe!

I was actually flying at the controls when my friend took this shot. I was checking the airliners database one day and a plane being flown by me was in the top pictures for that day. It has left a special feeling. I never thought in a million years a plane being flown by me would make it on airliners.net. Especially one of the top pictures.

Its really cool to see the planes that we all have flown in the past on Airliners.net! Keep um comin guys! (Now B747Skipper needs to add a few of shots with him onboard!)

Trickijedi, Its a shame I didnt see Tim during my taxi out to the runway. Maybe we could have created one of those classic shots of the pilot waving while taxying past! Laugh out loud And your right by saying that finding this shot is a treasure! Now I need to order a enlarged print!!

Yes sir that was me believe it or not! How cool is that?!? Very cool if you ask me! It sure did make my day! Thanks for the nice comments!

Cheers!

I poked around, and out of the aircraft I've flown, I found the following:

Which I did some acro training in with the late Randy Gagne before he died in a training accident in an Extra 300.

and my greatest flying thrill...

Which I got to right seat (which largely meant changing the radio frequencies) in with Clay Lacy himself a few years ago VNY-SMX to meet up with some folks who had just had their G-II painted.

Flew at 17,500' VFR the whole short way. Doggone, did that machine climb like a rocket!

Wow! That's really neat. I don't have any pictures of me actually operating the aircraft on airliners.net (yet), but I do have one my friend took in the upload queue, so I'll post it if it gets accepted.
