Virgin Blue Aircraft Order

Wed Nov 20, 2002 1:53 pm

Does anyone have details on what aircraft type Virgin Blue will be ordering. All i have heard is that they will be ordering between 40 and 50 jets within the next few weeks. I am anxious to see what they are going to get. Do you think they are going to stick with the 737 or will they go to Airbus. On another note...does anyone know whether Virgin Atlantic will use a 747 or A346 on the Hong Kong(pending)-Sydney route when they start that.

Off topic a bit, but they've been saying this for so long now but nothing ever seems to happen. I believe there expansion is being curtailed by CASA because they won't employ sufficient engineers. It is not uncommon for engineers on their days off to have to relieve in out ports.

On another site it is reported that Richard Branson will be back in
Australia on the 12th Dec to launch the new BNE-PER & BNE-ROC routes
as well as open the new VB terminal in SYD, would expect the much
waited for order to announced at this time.

Virgin is tipped to order more 737s with the highlight being the launch of the 737-900X.

Qantas is tipped order some of this type at around the same time.
