MNL T3 Delays Opening; Fear On Terror Attacks

Thu Nov 21, 2002 10:14 am

Filipino President Gloria Magapagal Arroyo has decided to delay the opening of new Terminal 3 in Manila's Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA3).

The opening date was set for December 15. It has been postponed till April or May 2003, on increasing fears on major terrorist attack.

This is one of the precaution to protect foreign travellers.

Philippine will launch "Visit Philippine 2003", with the opening of NAIA 3 as part of the campaign.

Does anybody know if PR has to move its international operations to T3?

Cause I know they are a bit unhappy about that.

I Think that they do have to move.. even thought its bad for them i think it would be better to put international ops there because for us travellers there is not much to do at NAIA 2. of course there is a Mabuhay Lounge but what is there to do for fiesta class passengers? i think all thats in NAIA 2 is 1 coffee shop and thats it.

Anyways i found out that Northwest Thai Korean JAL and Malaysian have anounced the locations of offices and stuff at NAIA 3.
It also says that Northwest will be investing heavilly into NAIA 3.. putting more frequencies to MNL and putting a new Business Class lounge at MNL.

I just hope NAIA 3 doesn't get delayed too much or else im gonna be mad! :@
