Observations From A Southwest Newbie

Wed Nov 03, 1999 6:55 am

Southwest Airlines started service Sunday here at Hartford (BDL). Given the latest topics about WN, I decided to check out the action at the gate on their first day here. Granted, I didn't fly them -- yet -- but my experience at the gate was telling:

-- The gates were packed on the first day of operation
-- There was little confusion about the boarding process
-- Employees were having a lot of fun
-- Passengers were smiling
-- Turnarounds were very efficient
-- Flights left right on time

Why can't all airlines be like this?

Your saying you want packed gates, no assigned seating and if you get there late, you get a middle seat. You can't really want that do you?

Let me clarify, AC_A340. I was speaking not as a passenger but as someone who wants to see business thrive, for the airline industry in general and my airport.

I'm just saying it was a good launch at this new destination.

I may have a different viewpoint once I fly!

Sorry I was kind of rude there. I have never flown on SWA, but I go by what I here from these guys/girls in here. I love it when an airline starts service to a new city, it makes you feel so much more important in the global world. Best of luck SWA and have a nice flight.
