I flew LHR-CMB, CMB to Male (MLE?) and then back to Heathrow, on A330s and A340s, and I was very impressed indeed.

Cabins were clean, service was great.

I'd certainly use them again.

I seem to recall spotting a Trip Report on Sri Lankan in the Trip Reports forum. A search there might give you some results.

Hi Charles,

Srilankan is very good. I fly on them 2/3 times a year. Service is good. Drinks are plentiful  Smile

Is it the morning one or the afternoon one on Saturday that you will by flying on? The morning ones are usually A330-200's and the evening one is a A340. Either way the aircrafts are very comfortable. Good inflight entertainment too including 16 video games all on PTV's.

Check out their web site for details of what movies are on currently etc. The SIN ones are usually on A330's. Transfer should be straightforward too at CMB (Its a small airport)

Check out my trip report http://www.airliners.net/discussions/trip_reports/read.main/26267/
Its my first attempt at a trip report....so its not up to the usual high standards set by most of the other A.netters!  Smile/happy/getting dizzy.

Hope you will find time to write one for this trip.

Regards
Siva

One of the best ...!

I really like the PTV's with touch-screen and also the movies are excellent ...

Well, CMB airport isn't my favorite but hey, you can fly UL ...

I will repeat Swissgabe's sentiments, in saying that you will have a great time on UL. Your Colombo-Singapore flight will probably go via Kuala Lumpur (UL 312). Colombo airport is nothing flash, it has a few shops and is pretty simple. However, when embarking and disembarking in Colombo, you will get bussed out and get to use the stairs. In my opinion much better than the aerobridges  Smile

The waiting area gives good views of the apron and runway but the glass spoils it.

As with many Indian sub continent airports photography is prohibited (There are signs all over the place!!) as the airport is also used by the SL Airforce (who's hangers you can see beyond the runway as you view from the seating area).

Having said that , as long as you keep a low profile  Smile and are quick (real quick) you could get away with it. An employee did come over shouting at me (he wasn't even security!!) a few years ago, but I managed to calm him down!!

You should be able to take photos from the Bus that takes you to the plane and back, as it does take you around the parked planes on the way.

If you can, be one of the last to disembark last as for some bizarre reason they always seem to send one bus short  Confused and you get to wait around the aircraft till the next one arrives granting a good photo opportunity  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

9V-SVC, I didn't have any problems. Anyway, I'm very careful in such things, especially in that region ...

Swissgabe,

I adore you for your loyalty to UL. But, please.... tell me one region in the world that you don't have to be careful.?... New York?,,London? ..Singapore.? Bali ?..well I think you have to live with it and its a fact of life these days..
