New Start-ups (germany)

Thu Nov 28, 2002 12:36 am

Two new start-ups in the regional scene:

* In Germany a new carrier wants to start from Eggenfelden near Munich with one or two Dornier 328-110 to Berlin (THF) and to Mönchengladbach (MGL) with twice daily flights.

* In Uganda Sun Air is preparing a start of regional operation on is currently seeking 30-seaters, among them EMB-120, J41, S340, L-610 and FD328-110 and -300.

Additional info or or info about other start-ups are appreciated!

Did anyone mention Express-Airways (six BAe 146 ex AGB to other smaller airports like MGL, FKB, LBC) yet?

And Tellair with F50 flying LBC-AGB-VIE:

Where exactly is Eggenfelden, is it a conversion airport?

Fly-K, do you know for sure that Tellair will fly LBC-AGB-VIE? Cause I just stumbled about an ad that they are looking for pilots based in GVA.

Eggenfelden seems to be a smaller airport, try this link: http://www.rottal-inn.de/flugplatz/index.htm

IMO Express Airways won´t make it - the BAEs are too big for these routes.

Just to let you know, the management of Tell Air was involved in low-cost carrier Ciao Fly which only operated for six weeks this summer before they started again with the project of a regional airline. Some years back they announced regional flights under the same name, but they just changed schedules, routes, aircraft types etc. every second week. Flights never started although they already sold tickets. I don't believe they will start operations until I see it and in case they should really take-off I don't expect them operate that long. It makes just absolutely no sense to operate twice daily from AGB to LBC with a Fokker 50, I could see a market if they would fly to HAM but flying to LBC is just stupid. They can't get that much typical LCC travellers willing to fly on a Fokker 50 out of AGB to LBC instead of flying on a dba 737-300 from MUC to HAM. And if they would be interested in business passengers they would have to fly to HAM anyway.
