SN Back To Tel Aviv...

Thu Nov 28, 2002 12:43 am

As of March 28, 2003, SN Brussels Airlines is planning to relaunch (amongst others) direct flights from Brussels to Tel Aviv on a 4 times weekly basis.

Flights will depart at 19:10 in Brussels and arrive in Tel Aviv at 00:35.
return from Tel Aviv is scheduled at 01:30 with an arrival in Brussels at 05:20.

Interesting news, isn't it?

(news confirmed to me by a relative of mine  Wink/being sarcastic still working with SN....)

Sabenapilot,

It's in the pipeline but not 100 pct. sure yet. There is a discussion going on between the unions and the direction about these flights (direction wants return flights for the crew without nightstops).

Interesting news...Almost seems like a night-shift for pilots. Does Tel-Aviv airport allow scheduled airline services to depart that late?

Apuneger - Yes, Ben Gurion airport in Tel Aviv is open at night. Sabena also had flights that operated the same hours (some with the Sobelair 767 as well)

BGN is not open the whole night, it is closed I think from 2 to 5.30 This summer there were plans to extend the closure times from 1.30 to 6, but it was never implemented due to the strong opposition by foreign airlines.
I bitterly miss the livery that should never have been changed (repetition...)

A330DAT,

Sabena slots at TLV were daily for 05:30AM and in the after-noon hours (when the 767 came instead the 737/32X).

And Toda, is correct, the airport is closed for t/o between 02:00 and 05:30, with a plan to extend it to 01:30 to 06:00 in the future.

I cant wait them to come to TLV, but that schedule reminds me exactly the same schedule of KLM (AMS-TLV-AMS) which is quiet annoying for the TLV-BRU slot.

I would suggest them to delay the departure from TLV to a little bit later so people should have shorter connection times in Brussels.

...You are right Pressclub. We've all received a complete e-mail yesterday about that Tel-Aviv flight. Pressure is increasingly rising between SNBA's management and the unions.
With tonight's new attacks I'm not too sure the Flightcrews and unions will ever allow such combinations to take place.
After the start of the second Intifada, Sabena cancelled the night stop for the cabin crews but stayed for the pilots (duty hours problems).

But to my opinion, 12 hours of duty on a BRU-TLV-BRU rotation is very very hard.

F.B.

Do know that your colleagues flying for the charter airlines have almost on a weekly base the same long flights when they fly to the Red Sea or when they have a double touch in the Canaria's... It's indeed hard but you are not the only ones doing it...

Tel Aviv...opening Hours

Thu Nov 28, 2002 11:42 pm

What, the airport is closed!?!
How does Swiss make it, they arrive around 4am and depart 5:20am...this seems a bit strange or did I misunderstand something?

Sorry but I flew on the route myself for several years. I don't know where you get your closure times but certain of our flights departed at 2:30 in the morning arriving in brussels on time for the morning rush. If we would of left earlier we would of arrived in Brussels in the middle of the night and if we would of left later then we would of missed the first morning hub and spoke system.

Perhaps those closing times have been instated in the last 2 years only?

This maybe a stupid question, but why a night flight back to Brussels ?

These times don't seem convenient.

Is it profitable to fly an A319 to TLV, while other European carriers opearte wide bodies into TLV?

They probably aren't. On the other hand, those night flights may provide an excellent way to increase the use of the A319 fleet, by not letting them sit idle overnight.

SU has a similar schedule between BRU and SVO.
___Scheduled flights from MOSCOW SHEREMETYEVO (SVO) to Brussels (BRU)
___Flightnumber Days Dep. Arr. Type Validity
___SU231 1234567 21:20 22:55 734 2710-2903

RB does the same thing as well between DAM and BRU.

Pressclub,

You're right in your reply, but this is a night flight... TC & SLR both introduced a night-stop to the Red Sea. I've flown myself to TLV and the pax on this line are far from being easy tourists.

Flying Belgian, people formerly flying for Sabena and now for the charter airlines are very very upset with your remarks. I paste and copy their remarks here as they are not member of this forum.

Pressclub

"First of all SLR has no night-stop in the Red Sea, TCW does have one in HRG, but not for their SSH/LXR
flights, so far your information is not correct.

About the part of the "easy Tourists" this is definitely a misunderstanding, ...

As a well experienced flight attendant I' ve worked with bussines as well as with tourist passengers. Let me say that in general the tourist passengers are more grateful and easier to work with! But unfortunatly on the longer flights with less leg-space, non-smoking pax seated in the smoking zone, 10 infants in cabin, stopovers etc.. our beloved "tourist pax" are not always that nice!!

I' m suprised that this is an issue within SNBA, at the end Sabena didn't have night-stops in Tel Aviv departed much later round 22u00.
Btw: is SNBA going to serve also sandwiches on their TLV flights in Economy??.

kind regards!!

Sorry guys.

My goal is definitely not to enter into a conflict with ex-SN people as MANY of them try do to numerous time. But those people DO NOT know our CAO and therefore should look at their business. To introduce such night flights on MH sector, modifications will have to be operated and a negociation must be open between unions and the management.
I am really becoming upset when I read ex-SN people's reactions and provocations. First the 319, then the sandwiches, what will come next ??? Do you know how many mails I receive from them on a monthly basis ??
They seem to be driven by pure frustration and jealousy. I do not have to feel guilty to have kept a job nor my colleagues. I don't think like commenting the next posts about SNBA if this turns the same way each time.
