I can't access without logging in. I don't have a membership with them. Is there some way you can copy and paste it here?

Where are the renderings? All I saw was the print article.

The Saarinen Terminal is supposed to become a conference center and surrounded by a new terminal which would become home to JetBlue, United, and other Star Alliance carriers. United is near Chapter 11 and so I do not think they will be in any position to finance a new terminal in an airport that they barely serve (SFO, SEA, LAX, LHR, NRT) and the post-9/11 environment has thrown a number of JFK projects, including the new Delta terminal into doubt.

It would be amazing for JetBlue to have such an awe-inspiring home.

Terminal 6, the current JetBlue home, is a dump at airside and barely adequate (although visually appealing) landside.

Such a project, although expensive, would be an amazing feat for JFK. Then, the only "old" terminals would be the DL 2 and 3 which are in dire need of replacement.

With the new AA terminal, the refurbished BA T7, the beautiful T1 and T4 and a new T5/6 combo, JFK would be a whole new airport.

This would also be a great goal for JFK should NYC be the host of the 2012 Olympic games.

Call me a purist but I agree with the preservationists - the terminal should be left alone, as it was designed, and used as an airline terminal...afterall, it is one of the most widely-recognized airline buildings in aviation. A proud tribute to Saarien!
