Here Comes The Newest B747!

Fri Nov 29, 2002 7:19 am

The 747 800 was delivered and starts operation to handle the highest density
traffic between Tokyo and Osaka.

That looks pretty cool, even spaced the upper deck e-exits out between the lower deck ones for certification too !!. Could probably do with one more u/d e/exit though just behind the windows for the high density version.

Also the back reminds me of the 747SP, where the fuselage tapers down into the tail section.

Well done  Big thumbs up

United 777, unfortunately the wing span is limited to this lengths due to
ground handling restriction at Haneda.

The reason it doesn't have the winglets is that it's the 747-800D model- a la the -400D.  Big grin

Leezyjet, I had the same thought about the way the fuselage tapers at the tail as well. I think it looks great, although it would make the A340 seem like a rocket in comparison with the usual four JT9Ds.

Couldn't they offer a variant with folding wing tips, like what was originally in the B777 plan, tho no airlines has taken it up?? That way I'm sure it'll clear the ground handling restrictions at Haneda!!

We know its fake, Scott. Its a joke.

The A380 won't be that ugly... it won't taper in at the tail quite like that.

This 747 is stored for the Christmas Season. It only works one day a year. It has to haul Santa's Fat Ass and all those toys around the world.  Big grin Just Kidding

But if Airbus can make a double decker, why cant Boeing? Imagine the above piture without the ugly tail bit.

That would be some a/c

The only thing that the obese pig would need now to fly would be 4 GE 90-115B´s under the wings instead of those puny PW JT9D´s.  Big thumbs up

It might probably look better if the tail design is changed a bit... too small for this 'B747'!

Actually it looks quite good, maybe needs a little work done on the tail and an update enginewise. By the way designing the 747-800D from a standard -800 is better than starting with the -D and then adding the standard plane.  Wink/being sarcastic

Btw: This has been a study made by Boeing earlier already before. I think the upper deck cross section wouldn't allow the plane to be as efficient as the wider upper deck of the A380. This has something to do with the way the fuselage curves around the cabin so the A380 would have more seats per square-meters of cabin skin...
Complicated I know.  Laugh out loud But don't ask for more details as I don't work for Boeing and had nothing to do with this project...

Happy Thanksgiving to all US readers. The strange bird is certainly a Turkey, or at least consumed a lot of turkeys, with stuffing, yams; mashed potatoes; gravy and cranberries. B-747-400FUD (Fat Ugly Duckling)!!

Sayem55, if you really meant what you said, then do me a favor. Go to the nearest brick wall and smash your head into it until you cant feel pain anylonger.

Apollo13, its not very hard to make a picture like that all you need to do is use the stamp tool in Photoshop. Takes no more than a couple of minutes if you do a good job.
