SAS Re-registrations

Mon Dec 02, 2002 1:11 am

Something for all you wondering about the reason for SAS to
re-registrant all new aircrafts all the time.

I picked up this from

"The most frequently asked question we get from you visitors is:
Q:Why do SAS re-register the fleet?

We have now got the correct answer from our information department.
A: The Swedish law do not allow ???Sale lease-back??? Of an aircraft if not the aircraft physically change operator as well. Because of that SAS has been forced to re-register the major part of the fleet from Swedish(SE-) registration to Norwegian(LN-) or Danish(OY-).
Finally an answer to all these questions."

One other reason is that its cheeper to use a plane that's reg. in a country outside EU, and therefore SAS re-registrer in Norway instead.

And both Norway and Denmark has a contribution to Nato transport needs, and Swedish reg. planes can't be used.
