Ryanair: This Time Almost They Pay You To Fly!

Wed Dec 04, 2002 10:08 pm

100,000 seats for sale over 2 days at just 50c!

This is the way Ryanair chose to answer to the Germanwings €1 including taxes.

Here part of the press released:

Ryanair today confirmed that no matter how hard they try, Lufthansa/Germanwings can never match Ryanair low fares, our routes or the number of seats, which Ryanair sells at the lowest fares in Germany. Germanwings fare is twice the price of Ryanair, but only half the seats, and for only half the booking period. Ryanair remains unchallenged as Germany biggest low fares airline, and Germany only LOWEST FARES airline.

Information:
Fare 0.50c Including taxes and airport charges.
Availability 100,000 seats (On flights ex. Frankfurt-Hahn).
Book Thursday 5th & Friday 6th December 2002.
Travel 19th December 2002 ??? 24th February 2003.

What a pity that HHN is too far away from my hometown but I do not care, CGN and Germanwings are half an hour away by car Big grin

Yep, just posted about this in the 4U thread as well.
Cool offer, a real fare war going on in Germany. Just too bad for us folks in the south where neither of those carriers fly to.
Damn

*OUCH* Ryanair is really hurting themselfes this time.

'...only half the seats..'

Didn't Ryanair fly the 737 and Germanwings the A320S? I'd say Germanwings is having the better seats here.  Big grin

'...Germanwings fare is twice the price of Ryanair..'

What a lame comparison. He's talking about 50 EUROCENTS, that's really worth the additional expenses one has to make to travel to the secondary airports of wich Ryanair operates.

0,50€ airport taxes included?

Hey Ryanair has got something in common with their favored aircraft manufacturer... They both pay their customers to buy their products.  Big thumbs up

If you are in a situation where you are able to choose between CGN and HHN, wouldn't the choice be pretty obvious ? Unless you want to fly to a destination only FR serves...

But hey, we shouldn't be complaining right ? Interesting times...

Manni: Germanwings offer 50,000 seats at that rate, Ryanair 100,000.

And, Germanwings operates A319 - I think that's smaller than Ryanair's 738s.

Besides, contrary to your statement, Ryanair's preferred manufacturer is Boeing, not Airbus. You must have gotten something wrong there...  Big grin

Very funny Ikarus.

The size of the plane doesn't matter, it's the inside that counts. It's common knowledge that the A320S (note the S from series, that includes the A319) is spacier than the 737.

After Ryanair claimed that it has raped Boeing, Germanwings can claim that it has just raped Ryanair.  Big thumbs up

It's common knowledge that the A320S ... is spacier than the 737.

Common knowledge... with little kids....

Anyone with even the slightest bit of realism will tell you that the few centimetres of difference, divided into 6 seats and an aisle, are negligible...
