US To Bail Out Midway?

Thu Dec 05, 2002 7:31 am

Why on God's green earth would any bankruptcy court allow one bankrupt airline to loan money to another bankrupt airline , when there are plenty of carriers to perform US Express services quite capably on their own.. If this gets approved, then it proves to me bankruptcy court is a true corporate farce! US says this agreement is "critical" for their recovery!.. yeah , right, like Midway is critical to anyone's world.. give me a break!

What is critical is Midway having 30 CRJs in storage that are able to be pulled out right away - and Midway having a certificate available to fly on as well. A Midway restart would be quicker than the start up of Mid Atlantic and will allow them to get some much needed lift. If anything, once Midway starts flying again they will just get bought out by Mr. Mesa himself.

Ou, I think you are mistaken as to the exact number of RJ's Midway has at their immediate disposal, if any.

The same 30 RJ number was brought up on USAviation a month or two ago and was clarified by a Midway pilot who stated that the majority of the RJ's had already found new homes.

Yes, I actually *do* work for an airline, how about you?

I believe most, if not all, of the first batch of AirTran JetConnect planes will be ex-JI craft.
