Korean Air Orders 744ER

Tue Dec 10, 2002 9:24 am

December 10-16, 2002 edition of Flight International reporting that KAL (Korean Air) has decided to go ahead with the 747-400ER order.

I haven't saw the articles about this (I saw the title online), so I'm wondering does anyone know more details about this order?

yeah, curious how many they want.

Seems with so many parked 744s, especially the UA ones that are going to be for sale soon, it mioght be better to just buy a pax 744 and cut it up for cargo ops.

On second thought, that sounds intensive and expensive.

well, still want to know how many they will take.

Great if true (and this magazine is usually well-informed). Maybe that are the two still unidentified 747s on Boeings website (see topic of last weekend)?

BlatantEcho,

Why should it be better to buy second hand 744 passenger aircraft and cut them up for cargo operations instead of buying the 744ER? ER stands for extended range and not for freighter if I'm not mistaken.

Great news! KAL has about 27 747-400s.
