Best Looking B777?

Fri Nov 05, 1999 10:38 pm

Let's do this for example:

What is on your opinion the best looking B777 200 or 300 flying in the sky? Which comapny look fits more to a triple seven?

On my awise the list is as follows:

1. New Air Europe - simple, white but very fine.
2. Continental, the globe on the tail fits gratly to a 777

3. JAS, rainbow on a 777, good.
4. BA "Nami Tsuru" or "Caligraphy" as well as "Animals and Threes" very, very nice
5. Thai Airways, I love that plane

What do you think about yours' favorite 777?

have a look at the Saudi-Arabian 777-200.
It looks pretty cool, too!

By the way, how did you do that with this Continental-777 in your post?

  • British Airways livery on 777s looks gourgeous!! (I mean the Wolrd colours!)
  • American Airlines' silver paint on 777! Isn't it "classic"? Neat.
  • Yeah, I agree that Continental looks good. Especially Montenegro chose that kewl pic... NY scenery on background and the globe on the tail are something!

I think any 777 looks good, but I really like the BA world colors and the American 777s. I have never seen a cathay 777, but I think that would look nice.

1. Japan Air System
2. Saudi Arabian
3. American - if they can keep them clean and shiny
4. Cathay Pacific

However, if Asiana ever gets 777s, that will take first or second place. I know it has them on order and hopefully with the Asian thing sorting itself out, it'll happen. They WILL look good!

For me the absolute best looking 777's are those with BA's new union jack paint scheme and those in China Airlines' new pink flower livery. That's the most beautiful scheme I've seen in a long time.
If only they had them.

CO:Best And Worst 777s

Sat Nov 06, 1999 5:52 am

You can call me biased, (my wife is an ex-CO employee and we live near IAH) but I think Continental has the classiest looking 777.

Unfortunately they are about to unveil the ugliest as well. Continental is the official airline of New York's Y2K celebration and as such commissioned '60s pop artist Peter Max to design a special paint scheme for a 777. If you dig around in the press release section of CO's website there's a picture of Gordon Bethune, Peter Max, and NYC dignitaries standing with a model of it. My wife said "it looks like a bluejay in heat!" Ship 014 will be delivered later this month.

BTW, too bad El Al changed their livery. The 777s they're getting would have looked great.

I think the 777-300 looks nicer than the -200. It has style and looks great because of its length and large engines.

I would have to say Singapore Airlines or Thai Airways have the best livery for a 777 (Especially the 777-300).

Living in Australia, of course I also wish to see Qantas or Ansett 777 some day!

1. United
2. American, (If they're kept shiney)
3. BA with the Union Jack

If Air Canada operated them, they would be on the list.

American's 777

Sat Nov 06, 1999 12:16 pm

American's 777s look the best. Fly into DFW in the early morning, and if you land on the NW runway, you get to taxi by them sitting at American's Hangars.

Seeing the rising sun reflect off their metallic skin, and seeing those massive 6 wheel boogies. Even when viewed from a MD80,those beautiful machines look massive. Hands down, American livery wins.

United's 77 is quite the aircraft! I have a model of an UA 777 in the new colors, of course. I must say the blue-gray fuselage paint scheme adds greatly to the 777, better than a simple white scheme.

Thanks nonrev. I like the new colors myself. I haven't seen any pictures of the 14th 777 to carry the new colors. LOL I am saving that heart attack for when it enters service. BTW where was your wife based out of? IAH based here.

SIA colors!!!
i really like chitlines ending just before the nose like on Thai as well. SIA ones end somewhere at Door no. 1.
which leaves a nice white nose. i think its the most flattering design for most planes. i always felt that designs at the nose distort the nose and cockpit, the best is still shiny galaxy white noses.
i pick SIA in favor of Thai because not a favorite color for me.
a 777 in SIA blue gold combination is just a beauty!

My wife was one of your favorite people. She worked in SOCC as a F/A Scheduler. (You can stop booing now   ) Based on some of your posts that I've read you've probably been a line-holder for a very long time so she most likely never had to wake you up at 0400!

Seriously, I'd like to let you know what a great job the F/As are doing. Whenever we flew my wife always took time to go back to the galley and say hi. I never realized just how tough your job is until I heard some of the stories that F/As would tell her. Y'all are the best in the business, period.

As for Ship 014, go to the Corporate section of the CO website and find the archive of press releases. There's one from early October about CO being the official airline for NYC's milennium celebration. You'll find the picture of Gordon and the others standing with a model of 014.

Go Forward!

Hi Guys (any Gals interested in 777s??)
In my opinion (and my favorite aircraft) is the 777-300. Good proportion of wingspan/length/huge engines. Flown many times in it, too...great.
As far as liveries are concerned, my favorites :
(1) Singapore AL (2) Thai (3) Korean
(4) BA (clouds/Ndebele)not the -300 of course

My favourite 777 liverie: I love the look of the 777-200 in the older BA colour scheme - very classy. As well, Aeroflot - Russian International Airline's 777-200 looks very striking and modern, compared to most of the Russian aircraft in its fleet. Saudia's 777-200s look fantastic! American Airlines has to be the most amazing I've seen, with its chrome silver fuselage and grey tail, wings and engines. And of course, United Airlines, which first introduced the 777-200 to the flying public, has a very tasteful and attractive colour scheme.

My favorite is the Singapore Airlines B777-200 with the 50th Anniversary c/s. Very beautiful in the sun.

I would have to say that Continental's B777 look the best. The logo looks great on the tail, as well as on the side. It looks very classy.
