What Latin American airlines have failed or been consolidated in the last five years? Please include the year the airline disappeared. Thanks in advance!

hmm, some people consider Trinidad as part of Latin America.
I know Dell does....I had to by my computer from the Dell Latin America site.
oh, getting back on the topic....
since Trinidad is 8 miles away from Venezuela, I'll add

Air Caribbean to the list.
went out of service in 2000.

Air Venezuela??????? I think they are gone??? They had Convair 580's and some CASA's.

VIASA - Venezuelan International Airlines, ceased operations in 1997. This is what their fleet looked like after the airline was grounded at its home base of Caracas.

Just planes has a comprehensive listing of defunct carries since 2000.
http://www.justplanes.com/AirlineHist.html

It's truly sad to scroll through those names.

Indeed it's sad to see all those defunct airlines. About Taesa, weren't they a big airline? I know they operated quite a variety of aircraft types throughout the years, but did they have a large fleet? They weren't a small airline, right?

I found it sad to see Viasa of Venezuela go bankrupt. Somehow I liked their livery on all their aircraft, the famous orange tail of Latin America, I called them. When I arrived at Miami in 1984 with Eastern Airlines (also a favorite airline of mine), I saw a Viasa 747-200 parked at the terminal together with a ALM MD80 and a Avianca 747-200, that was a sight I would like to see again.
