I love all trijets, especially with the US Majors.

In fact, I propose that we start TriJet Airlines using these great planes. We could give the 727s the BR715 and the others those sweet RR Trent 550s on the A346s. We could have great service and low fares.
Also, to all trijet lovers, check out this link.

Speaking of which, Does anyone know the plans for Delta's last 727 flight is? I know it is supposed to be the beginning of April (April 3) but I dunno. Does anyone know which route it is supposed to take. I imagine it will be Hub-Hub flight. CVG-ATL, SLC-ATL, MCO-ATL, ATL-MCO.... ETC....

Thanks

Sean (Apollo13),

you are entitled to your dislike for a certain aircraft type or a certain category of airliners . . . but as this is a rather civilised forum, "cursing something to a horrible grave" is perhaps considered rather extreme. This is especially so when considering your very tender age!

The TriStar is probably older than you by many years, it was here first and if you didn't like it, too bad. Many (both old and young) have love the TriJets, enjoyed flying the TriJets, ogling at them, photographing them, listening to them take-off etc

KC Sim
Bangkok . . . where Orient Thai has just painted her L-1011-1 in full livery! Long Live the TriStar and other TriJets.

I wholeheartedly agree with you, Aviasian.  Smile

Unless Apollo13 would care to enlighten us with some objective reasons for this "hatred" (I still don't quite understand how you can "hate" an object), I have to consider that particular post to be a little on the immature side.

No matter how much I like the 744, Concorde, A330/340 etc. I still have a special place in my heart for the L1011 !!

One of the most beautiful aircraft ever made - a real Rolls Royce of the skies !!

Had some great flights, had some great aborts (thanks ATA) but every single flight on one was memorable for something !!!!

I propose we should start a 'Tri-jet Museum', or at least a webpage devoted to the three-holers. Let see, we have to have the Trident, 727, DC-10, L-1011, MD-11, Falcon 900, Tu-154 and of course the Yak-40/42. Did I leave anything out? If so, feel free to add it.  Wink/being sarcastic Regards.

As look would have it I am travelling on the LAST L1011 500 that is being operated by its original owner BWIA....

As for Appolo 13 your comment is uncalled for. Airlines sugh as BWIA Delta etc would tell you that the L1011 served them well and I am sure that if Lockheed was still in the business of civil jet aircrafts that L1011ng if built with teh same quality and excellence would be bought by the L1011 operators.

The L1011 was technologically advance in the era it was produced. It served with BWIA for 22 years actually when it is retired from BWIA it would have served for 23 years 1980-2003 and has help to keep BWIA one of the safest airlines in the World. So dispite your un educated and paltry comment the L1011 although not a financial success is respected for the quality with which it was build.

What the hell is Apollo13's problem? I think he needs to shut up because he doesn't know what the hell he's talking about.

I agree with FlagshipAZ. www.trijets.com isn't being used. We could dedicate a section to each trijet.

Those are some pretty liveries, but if that is supposed to be an L1011-700, then it needs to have the L1011s nose. Give it some Lockheed Heritage here. Wonderful though.

The L-1011 is an amazing aircraft.

It was WAY ahead of it's time in nearly every way possible.

It was the first aircraft to have gust dampening which made flying smoother and reduced the amount of turbulence in turbulent air.

Since teijets are pretty much few and far between nowadays, I really miss them as well. It kinda makes me regret not having appreciated them more when they were around back in the day. Actually, even as early as three years ago!

There have been no fatal accidents of any L-1011, for any reason, for as long as you have been alive. According to your profile, you've only been alive for the past 13-15 years. Or have you been re-incarnated, and this happened in your previous life? That would explain it. So please give us the details of this accident that occured to your mother in your previous life.

Or quit while you're behind.

Doubt the last 727 for DL will be ATL-MCO. They haven't been using the 727 on that route as of late- been mainly widebodies, a very dense route. More likely it will be something like CVG-ORD, ATL-DTW or CVG-ATL.

I am booked on a trijet double header in mid January. A Delta 727 from DFW to ATL and then a MD-11 from ATL to MCO. The 727 flight I booked a seat all the way back so I can listen to the JT-8D's one last time before Delta gets rid of the venerable 727 forever....

The L1011 has never had a fatal crash due to mechanical error.

Unless you count that light on the Eastern crash in the everglades that had the pilots so preoccupied that they didn't know their altitude.

I don't recall any other Tristar crashes/fatalities other than...

Eastern above mentioned
Delta at Dallas in thunderstorm
Saudi fluke accident where plane landed safely but caught fire killing all people on board.
