Euroatlantic Airways And YES

Sat Dec 14, 2002 3:09 am

I am wondering if anybody here knows what the relationship is between TAP, YES and Euroatlantic Airways? The Portuguese airline industry has been very strange lately. You have the established airlines TAP, Portugalia and also SATA in the Azores. Beyond that, Air Madeira came around a few years ago, then changed to Air Zarco (or was that the other way around), then YES showed up and now you have Euroatlantic Airways. Very confusing to say the least!

Anybody here have any perspective as to the details of all this? Thanks in advance!

A friend of me got a Lockheed Tristar some days ago instead of the A340 of Tap on the Brasilia-Lisbon flight (he didn't look at the name of the airline, only at the name of the plane, he is actually not interested in aircrafts so...).

Does anyone know from who this tristar could be? Has tap an A340 in maintenance or so?

Thanks
Frederic

This L1011 would either be YES or Euroatlantic Airways.

Air Luxor also got an A330-300 recently, they also wet-leased an A330-200 during the last summer season from Novair.

and of course Air Luxor operates a few A320.
BTW does anyone know if Luxor comes from the Egyptian city or does it mean something in Portuguese?

Thomas, hadn't Air Namibia already wet-leased an A332 from Novair?

How much a/c have they actually left for their own charterwork at the moment?

Thanks

Aside from the tristar, EuroAtlantic also has:
733 CS-TIG (which I think is ex-TAP)
733 PR-BRE
733 CS-TMZ

@Frederic: Novair doesn't operate the A330-200s on their own charter flights any longer, both aircraft are mainly operated on wet-leases for other airlines such as Libyan Arab, Air Luxor, Air Namibia etc.
