Can You Pick Seats On Most Websites?

Sat Dec 14, 2002 6:03 am

I am making reservations for a trip in April ROC-LAX-ROC and have been searching on the web for tickets. It seems that all of the low cost sites are no cheaper than the Airlines sites. So if price is the same I'd prefer to make reservations on Airline's site. I was wondering if all of the major U.S. carriers websites allow you to pick your seat and show what are available. I know that Delta, American, and United do, but how about the others?

*Also what airline do you think would be the best to fly across to L.A. right now it is a toss up between American and US Airways (just because of scheduling purposes). I'd like to fly American because of their MRTC, but have miles on USAirways......

all your help is appreciated! thank you!

If you have miles, go US Air.
I think you can choose your seats on nwa.com as well.

I really like that feature.
Wish more carriers would do that.

I know that in April my mom booked my tickets through expedia and was able to choose my seats but when i went to united just to see if i would have anybody sitting next to me, i was able to see on United's website if the seats were taken or not.

We don't fly to ROC, but ATA's online booking engine displays a seat map and allows customers to select PRS (pre-reserved seats). Seats that are unavailable to pre-reserve (unless the customer is covered under the ADA) are bulkheads, exits rows, undesirable seats, and the rows in front of and behind an exit row.

Alaska airlines will let you assign your own seat.
